SSC JHT 2024: Application Form, Eligibility Criteria, Exam Date

SSC JHT 2024: SSC will conduct a competitive exam for selecting candidates for the post of Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator and Hindi Pradhyapak for various Ministries in the Government of India. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online for the SSC JHT 2024 exam from 23rd July 2024 onward. The exam will be conducted as two papers- paper I and paper II. Candidates must clear both these papers in order to be eligible for selection.

SSC JHT 2024 Important Highlights

  • Applications received without the prescribed fee will not be considered and rejected summarily.
  • Candidate must write their registration no., registered email id, mobile number, date of birth, name and exam name while sending any communication to the commission.
  • Admit card for appearing in Paper I and Paper II will be released separately.
  • All the posts carry All India Service Liability (AISL) i.e. the candidate, on selection, may be asked to serve anywhere in the country.
  • Once a post is allotted, no change will be made due to non-fulfillment of any post-specific requirements. Those who fail to meet such requirements, their candidature will be rejected.

SSC JHT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for appearing in SSC JHT 2024 exam are provided below:

Nationality: Candidates of following nationality are eligible to apply-

  • Citizen of India
  • Subject of Bhutan
  • Subject of Nepal
  • Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling
  • Person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka & East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling

Age limit: Age of the candidate should not exceed 30 years as on 1st January 2024. Relaxation will be given to the candidates as per the rules mentioned below.

Academic qualification:

For post codes A to E:

  • Candidates with a master’s degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of examination can apply.
  • Those holding a master’s degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of examination are eligible too.
  • The applicants who have a master’s degree in any subject (other than Hindi/ English) with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of examination can also apply.
  • Applicants who hold a master’s degree in any subject (other than Hindi/ English) with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of examination are also eligible.
  • Applicants with a master’s degree in any subject (other than Hindi/ English) with Hindi and English as compulsory/ elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination are eligible too.
  • A recognized diploma or certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or 2 years of experience  of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Office (3 years for post code E) is mandatory.

For post code F:

  • The applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory or optional subject at degree level along with a Master’s degree in any subject and a B.Ed degree are eligible. OR
  • Those with a bachelor’s degree in any subject with Master’s degree in Hindi with English a compulsory or optional subject at degree level and B.Ed degree can also apply. AND
  • 2 years experience of teaching Hindi at Senior Secondary level under Central or State Governments or recognized educational Institution is compulsory.

SSC JHT Application Form 2024

The SSC JHT application form 2024 can be obtained online through the official website www.ssc.nic.in. Candidates must carefully read the instructions in the information brochure before filling their application form.

  • First, the candidates need to register themselves providing basic details such as name, father’s name, gender, date of birth, email address, etc.
  • After successful registration a registration number and password will be generated that can be used to obtain the application form.
  • Other personal details, communication details, educational qualification, etc will be asked in the application form.
  • Photograph and signature of the candidates need to be uploaded in the form in scanned format.
  • After providing all the information correctly, the candidates can submit the application form along with the specified fee.
  • Once submitted successfully, the candidates should take the printout of the application form and keep it safe for future correspondence.

Application fee:

  • The application fee for SSC JHT will be Rs. 100/- except for women/ SC/ ST/ PH/ Ex-Servicemen candidates who are exempted from paying the application fee.
  • Payment of application fee can be done using credit card/ debit card/ SBI net banking/ BHIM UPI or submitting cash at SBI Branches by generating challan.

Admit Card

  • The admit card will be available for download on the website of concerned regional/ sub-regional office.
  • A printout of the admit card should be taken and carried to the exam center on the day of exam.
  • In addition to the admit card, it is mandatory to carry two passport size recent color photographs and original photo id proof having the date of birth.
  • Candidates whose are not able to download their admit card one week before the exam must immediately contact the commission.
  • Admit card is an important document that should not be damaged in any manner or else will be considered as invalid.

SSC JHT 2024 Result & Selection

  • Result of the SSC JHT exam will be uploaded online and can be checked by visiting the concerned regional/ sub-regional website.
  • Based on the marks obtained in Paper I, the candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in Paper II.
  • As per their performance in both these papers, candidates will be allowed to attend the document verification round.
  • After verification, the candidates will be allowed to provide their choice for ministries/ departments.
  • The Commission will make allotment of posts on the basis of merit-cum-preferences of departments given by the candidates.

FAQs

Question 1: What if my photo identity proof does not contain my date of birth?

Answer: If the Photo Identity Card does not have the Date of Birth then the candidate must carry an additional original certificate in proof of their Date of Birth.

Question 2: Is there any provision of compensatory time and assistance of scribe?

Answer: For PwBD candidates in the category of blindness and locomotor disability and cerebral palsy, the facility of scribe is provided. Extra 40 minutes will also be given to such candidates to finish their exam. For remaining PwBD candidates, the provision of scribe will only be provided after producing a certificate stating that the person concerned has physical limitation to write.

Question 3: Do I get to choose exam center of my choice?

Answer: Candidates can provide their choice for exam center in the application form. Efforts will be made but there is no guarantee that the same exam city will be allotted to the candidates.
