SSC JE 2024: Application Form, Exam Date, Eligibility Criteria, Exam Pattern

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is the authority responsible for conducting the SSC JE 2024 examination. The authorities are going to organize this exam to shortlist candidates for the post of Junior Engineers Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Quantity Surveying and Contract Posts. Selected candidates will be recruited in different ministries and departments of the central government. The application form for the examination will release in online mode. It is expected that the application process will start from 29 February 2024. Interested candidates can find all the necessary details related to the exam in this post.

SSC JE 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Interested candidates must check and ensure that they meet the SSC JE 2024 eligibility criteria before filling the application form.

Age Limit

  • The age limits of junior engineers in various ministries and departments are different.
  • The age limits as on 1st January 2024 for the post of JE in various ministries/ departments are as follows.
    • Central Water Commission – Junior Engineer (Civil) – Up to 32 years
    • Central Water Commission – Junior Engineer (Mechanical) – Up to 32 years
    • Central Public Works Department (CPWD) – Junior Engineer (Civil) – Up to 32 years
    • Central Public Works Department (CPWD) – Junior Engineer (Electrical) – Up to 32 years
    • Military Engineer Services (MES) – Junior Engineer (Civil) – Up to 30 years
    • Military Engineer Services (MES) – Junior Engineer (Electrical and Mechanical) – Up to 30 years

Relaxation in upper age limit

Some relaxations in upper age limit will be given to the candidates of reserved categories as given below.

  • SC/ ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwD: 10 years
  • PwD (OBC): 13 years
  • PwD (SC/ ST): 15 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (Unreserved/ General/ OBC):  3 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (SC/ ST): 8 years

The educational qualification and experience required for different posts are as follows:

  • Central Water Commission – Junior Engineer (Civil) – Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/ institute
  • Central Water Commission – Junior Engineer (Mechanical) – Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University/ institute
  • Central Public Works Department (CPWD) – Junior Engineer (Civil) – Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or Institute
  • Central Public Works Department (CPWD) – Junior Engineer (Electrical) – Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University or Institute
  • Military Engineer Services (MES) – Junior Engineer (Civil) – Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or Three years Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized Institute or University or Board with 2 ears experience in Planning, Execution and Maintenance of Civil Engineering works
  • Military Engineer Services (MES) – Junior Engineer (Electrical and Mechanical) – Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University or Three years diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Institute or University or Board with 2 years experience in Planning, Execution and Maintenance of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering works
  • Farakka Barrage Project – Junior Engineer (Civil) – Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or Institute or Board
  • Farakka Barrage Project – Junior Engineer (Electrical) – Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University or Institute or Board.

SSC JE 2024 Application Form

SSC JE 2024 application form will release in online mode through the official website of the commission.

  • To start the application process, candidates have to register on the official website.
  • In order to register, aspirants have to provide some of their basic details.
  • After registration, the candidates are required to fill their complete educational, personal, and contact details.
  • The details entered in the application form should be correct otherwise the candidature might get rejected.
  • Apart from the details, candidates are also required to upload the scanned images of their passport size photograph and signature.
  • It is advised to take a printout of the application form submitted and fee receipt for future references.

Application Fee

The application fee to be submitted is different for various categories as given below.

  • Male (General/ OBC/EWS): Rs. 100/-
  • Female (All Category): No fees
  • SC/ ST/ Ex-Servicemen/ PWD: No fees

Mode of Payment: The fee can be paid online using BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit cards. Alternatively, the fees can also be paid at SBI branches by generating SBI Challan.

SSC JE 2024 Admit Card

  • The admit card for the examination will be made available on the official website of SSC.
  • Please note that the admit cards for Tier – I and Tier – II exam will release separately.
  • To download the admit card, candidates have to provide their registration details and date of birth.
  • No candidates will be allowed to take the SSC JE 2024 examination without a valid admit card.
  • Along with the admit card, candidates must carry a photo ID proof for verification purpose.

SSC JE 2024 Exam Pattern 

SSC JE 2024 exam pattern will be different for paper I and Paper II. Those who will clear the Paper I will be allowed to take the Paper II exam.

  • Mode of examination: Online (Computer based test)
  • Type of questions: Objective type MCQ
  • Number of questions: 200
  • Duration of the exam: 2 hours
  • Maximum Marks: 200
  • Marking Scheme: 1 mark for each question
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer

  • The result of SSC JE examination 2024 will be published in online mode through the official website of the SSC.
  • To check the result, candidates have to provide their registration details or roll number.
  • In order to be eligible for the Paper II, the candidates have to clear the Paper I cut-off.
