SSC CGL 2021: Application Form, Syllabus, Eligibility, Exam Date

SSC CGL 2021: Selection of the candidates for Group B and Group C posts in various Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations in the Government of India will be done on the basis of SSC CGL 2021. The application form for the same is expected to be released in the month of May 2021. The interested candidates will be able to submit their applications in online mode. The exam will be held in four stages and only those clearing all these stages will be considered for final selection. Complete details of the SSC CGL 2021 selection process is given here in this article.

SSC CGL 2021 Major Highlights

  • Candidates must apply on time and are advised not to wait for the last date for application submission.
  • After tier I, the subsequent admit cards will only be released for the qualified candidates.
  • Preference of posts will be taken from the candidates either online or at the time of document verification.
  • Extra 20 minutes per hour will be given to the VH/ OH candidates to complete their paper.
  • The skill test and computer proficiency test will not contain any marks and will only be qualifying in nature.

Eligibility Criteria

The details of the SSC CGL eligibility criteria are given below:


The candidate should be any of the following:

  • Citizen of India
  • Subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugee who has come to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settling
  • Person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

  • Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer: Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline, masters’ degree in Commerce or Business Studies or Business Economics, MBA (Finance) or Chartered Accountant, Cost & Management Accountant and Company Secretary can apply.
  • Junior Statistical Officer: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with at least 60% marks in Mathematics in class 12th or bachelor’s degree with Statistics as a subject at degree level is required.
  • All other Posts: The applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or its equivalent.


  • Those in the final year of their graduation who will complete their degree before 1st August 2021 are also eligible.
  • For the post of Assistant Section Officer (MEA), Assistant Section Officer (CSS), Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under M/o Corporate Affairs, Assistant (GSI) in M/o Mines, proficiency in computer is mandatory.

SSC CGL Application Form 2021

The candidates can fill the SSC CGL 2021 application form online from the official website Candidates who submit their application form, complete in every respect, on or before the last date will be able to download their admit card.

  • The candidates will first have to fill a registration form providing basic personal details name, father’s name, gender, date of birth, category, etc.
  • Scanned photograph and signature of the candidates will also be uploaded in the registration form.
  • After this, the registration form can be submitted to generate registration id and password.
  • Now, using this id and password, the candidate can login to fill the rest details in the application form.
  • Before proceeding to fill the application form, the candidates will given one and only chance to edit the particulars of the registration form.
  • Once all the details are filled in the application form, it can be submitted along with the required application fee.

Application fee

  • The application fee will be Rs. 100/- except for SC/ ST/ Ex-servicemen/ female applicants who are exempted from fee payment.
  • The candidates can pay the fee online using debit card/ credit card/ net banking or offline via SBI Challan.

  • Negative marking: 0.50 marks will be deducted as penalty for incorrect answers

SSC CGL Syllabus

The syllabus for the SSC CGL 2021 exam are given as follows-

Tier I

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: Coding-Decoding, Numerical Operations, Space Orientation, Space Visualization, Venn Diagrams, Drawing Inferences, etc.
  • General Awareness: India and its Neighboring Countries related to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy & Scientific Research.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, Profit and Loss, Heights & Distances, Histogram, Time & Distance, Time & Work, Triangle, Circles, etc.
  • English Comprehension: Basic Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary, Writing Ability, etc.

Tier II

Admit Card

  • The admit card for appearing in the different tier exams of SSC CGL will be published online.
  • Candidates who submit their application successfully will be able to download their admit card from the official website of concerned regional/ sub-regional SSC office.
  • After downloading, a printout of the admit card should be taken to be carried to the exam center.
  • Along with the admit card, one photo identity card must also be carried while reporting for the exam.
  • Those applicants who face any difficulty in downloading their admit card should contact the concerned regional/ sub-regional office.

Result & Selection

  • The candidates will be able to check the result of the CGL exams from the official SSC website.
  • Candidates who clear both the objective and subjective exam will then have to appear for skill test or computer proficiency test.
  • Candidates reporting for skill test/ computer proficiency test must carry their documents for verification.
  • The candidates, who clear the test and whose documents are verified successfully, will then be considered for final selection.
  • Allotment to the different posts will be done on a merit-cum-preference basis. Once allotted, no request for the change in post will be entertained.
