CDS 2022 (2): Application Form (Out), Syllabus, Eligibility Criteria

CDS 2022: Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam is organized by UPSC two times in a year. It is a national level entrance examination conducted to select the deserving applicants for Defence Services. CDS 2022 qualified applicants will be eligible for admissions in Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy. Candidates can apply online for CDS 2022 (2) from 18th May 2022. Till then, concentrate on your study as you are willing to defeat the real talents. Questions can be asked from any part of CDS exam syllabus. So, don’t let any topic from CDS 2022 syllabus unprepared.

CDS 2022 Application Form

CDS 2022 application is now available online on the official website of UPSC upsconline.nic.in. They can register themselves most probably from for CDS 1.

There will be 2 parts in registration process- Part I & Part II. To fill the application form, you need to provide information such as your name, date of birth, category, email id etc.

You need to put your preference for OTA, AFA, INA, and IMA in your application form and also select the choice for the examination center.

You are also required to upload the scanned copy of your signature and photograph as per the following specification:

Please keep in mind that no further changes will be allowed in the form after submission. Upon successful registration, you will receive a unique registration ID and other associated details for reference.

After the completion of registration, you can pay the application fee either through online or offline mode. The details of application fee are provided below.

Application Fee

  • The application fee for CDS 2022 will be Rs. 200/-
  • The SC/ST category candidates & female applicants are exempted from paying the application fee.
  • Candidates can make the payment of application fee through the credit card/debit card or net banking facility of State Bank of India/State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash.
  • System-generated Pay-in-slip should be printed for cash payment. The fee should be deposited only on the next working day of the generation of slip.
  • For the applicants whose payment details have not been received from the bank, will be treated as fictitious payment and their applications will be cancelled. The list of such candidates will be uploaded on the website within 2 weeks from last date of application. Such applicants should submit their fee payment proof within 10 days either by hand or by speed post to the Commission.

After completing all the steps, a confirmation page will appear on the screen. Please keep a printout of the same for future reference.

In case more than one application form is submitted, the one with the higher RID (Registration ID) will be considered. No refund for application fee payment will be entertained for multiple forms or otherwise.

Eligibility Criteria for CDS 2022

Candidates have to meet the required eligibility conditions before they apply for CDS exam 2022. We have provided the details associated with age, educational qualification, and marital status required to apply and appear in CDS exam.

Nationality:

The candidate must be:

  1. A citizen of India
  2. A subject of Bhutan or Nepal
  3. Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention to settle here permanently is eligible for NDA 2022 exam.
  4. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India can apply too.

The candidates belonging to (1), (2), (3) and (4) must hold a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India. For Gorkha subjects of Nepal, the certificate of eligibility is not mandatory.

Note: Date of birth given in the Matriculation or Higher Secondary Examination Certificate or equivalent certificate will be taken into consideration for age proof.

Educational Qualification

The requirement of educational qualification varies from post to post. We have mentioned the educational qualification required for different posts.

Indian Military Academy and Officers’ Training Academy Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.
Indian Naval Academy Degree in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
Air Force Academy Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

Note:

  • Candidates with professional and technical qualifications recognized by the government as equivalent to professional and technical degrees would also be eligible for admission to the examination.
  • Candidates in the final year/semester Degree course can also apply provided candidate do not have any present backlog up to the last semester/year for which results have been declared up to the time of submission of application and they will be required to submit proof of passing the degree examination at the time of commencement of course.

Sex and Marital Status:

  • The candidates applying for INA, IMA, AFA and OTA (SSC Course for men) must be unmarried men.
  • Women, who are unmarried, issueless divorcees and widows, who are not remarried they are eligible to apply for OTA.

Note: Male divorcee/widower candidates cannot be treated as unmarried males for the purpose of their admission in IMA/INA/AFA courses and accordingly they are not eligible for these courses.

Note: The minimum acceptable height for male candidates is 157.5 cms (157 cms for Navy and 162.5 cms for Air Force). For Women candidates, the minimum acceptable height is 152 cms. For Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of the North-Eastern region of India, Garhwali and Kumaon, the minimum acceptable height will be 5 cms less. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cms.

CDS Exam Pattern 2022

Please read the information related to CDS 2022 exam pattern:

  • The examination will be held in offline mode.
  • The questions paper will have MCQ type of questions.
  • The medium of the language will be Hindi & English both, except for English subject questions.
  • There will be a penalty of 1/3rd marks for each incorrect answer.

Syllabus for CDS 2022

Knowing CDS 2022 syllabus will help you to prepare for the exam in a strategic manner. You can check out the important highlights of CDS syllabus 2022.

Mathematics– Algebra, Arithmetic, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration & Statistics

English– Antonyms, Synonyms, Reading Comprehension, Error Spotting, Para Jumbles, Jumbled Sentences, Fill in the Blanks & Sentence Correction

General Knowledge– The questions would be asked in the exam on current affairs and day to day observations. The questions will be also included from History and Geography.

CDS 2022 Admit Card

The admit cards can be downloaded from the official website of UPSC. The admit card will not be sent by any other mode except online mode. Admit cards will be released around 3 weeks prior to the examination. Make sure that you bring the admit card to the examination center because without admit card you will not be able to write the examination. Your admit card contains the following details:

  • Candidate’s name and address of the exam center
  • Category
  • Date of birth
  • Roll number
  • Signature
  • Photograph etc

The process to download the admit card is given below:

  • You need to go to the official web portal of UPSC- www.upsc.gov.in
  • Or, you may directly click the respective link. We will provide the same at later stage.
  • You will be asked to enter details such as your registration id and date of birth or Roll No. & date of birth or name, Father’s name & Date of Birth.
  • Once you fill up the required details then you need to click the submit button.
  • Your e-admit card will appear on the screen. Please download it and bring its hard copy on the day of the exam.

Note: If a candidate does not receive his/her admit card or any other communication regarding his/her candidature for the examination three weeks before the commencement of the examination, he/she should contact the Commission.

All communications to the Commission should invariably contain the following particulars.

  • Name and year of the examination
  • Registration ID (RID)
  • Roll Number (if received)
  • Name of candidate (in full and in block letters)
  • Postal Address as given in the application

Exam Center

The candidates will have to select the choice for the examination centre while filling the application form. Candidates should note that no request for change of centre will be granted. The exam will be conducted at the following centers:

Result

CDS 2022 examination result will be published at the official website of UPSC. A list of candidates, who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination as fixed by the Commission, will be made.

CDS 2022 Interview Process

The qualified applicants will be called to attend Intelligence and personality test at the Service Selection Board based on their preference by the respective service HQ. The interview date will be communicated to them in the call-up letter. Such candidates are required to register themselves online on the Directorate General of Recruiting website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.

Requests for postponing interviews will be considered only in genuine circumstances and the Army Headquarters/Air Headquarter/Naval HQ will be the sole deciding authority. Such requests should be sent to Selection Centre/SSB from where the call for SSB interview has been received.

In case a candidate does not get the interview call for SSB interview, he/she should write to Army Headquarters/Rtg. CDSE Entry/SSC Women Entry for Officers Training Academy, West Block-III, Ramakrishnapuram, New Delhi 110066 or contact on telephone No. 26173215.

Pilot Aptitude Test

Every candidate for the Air Force and Naval Aviation is given Pilot Aptitude Test only once. The Grade secured by him at the first test (CPSS and/or PABT) will be considered for every subsequent interview at the Air Force Selection Board. Those who have failed Indian Navy Selection Board/Computer Pilot Selection System (CPSS) and/or Pilot Aptitude Battery Test earlier and those who habitually wear spectacles are not eligible for Air Force.

Selection Procedure

The eligible applicants will be shortlisted based on their performance in CDS 2022. The shortlisted applicants will have to go through SSB/Interview followed by Medical Examination. The document verification will also be performed during selection. The final selection will be based on the applicants’ overall performance.

    • Candidates who are studying in the final year/semester Degree course and have yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply provided candidate should not have any present backlog upto the last semester / year for which results have been declared upto the time of submission of application and they will be required to submit proof of passing the degree examination at the time of commencement of course to reach the IHQ of MoD (Army), Rtg ‘A’, CDSE Entry, West Block III, R. K. Puram, New Delhi-110066 in case of IMA/SSC first choice candidates and Naval HQ “DMPR” (OI & R Section), Room No. 204, ‘C’ Wing, Sena Bhawan, New Delhi-110011 in case of Navy first choice candidates and PO3(A)/Air Headquarters, ‘J’ Block, Room No. 17, Opp. Vayu Bhawan, Motilal Nehru Marg, New Delhi-110 106 in case of Air Force first choice candidates by the following dates failing which their candidature will stand cancelled

    • Yes, candidates who are in the final year/semester degree course and have yet to qualify the final year degree exam they are permitted to apply provided that they should not have any present backlog upto the last semester/year for which results have been announced upto the time of submission of form. Candidates will be asked to submit the proof the passing the degree exam at the time of beginning of course.
