JNVST Exam Pattern 2024- Exam Duration, Mode

JNVST Exam pattern determines the overall structure in which the exam will be conducted and the questions will be framed. Students aspiring for admission in class 6th must appear for the selection test conducted by the concerned authority. Students can prepare for the test keeping in mind the exam pattern. The exam will be conducted in the month of February, April and June as per the different zones.

Students should familiarize themselves with the exam pattern and syllabus in order to qualify the exam. The exam will be conducted in offline mode where an answer sheet will be provided to the students to mark the answers. There will be three sections in the question paper/booklet. The exam pattern for JNVST is provided below-

  • Mode of the Examination: The exam will be conducted in offline mode (ICR/OCR based).
  • Language: Candidates can select any one of the given 21 languages to take the exam-Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, English, Garo, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada,  Khasi, Malayalam, Manipuri,  Marathi, Mizo, Oriya ,  Punjabi, Sindhi (Arabic), Sindhi (Devnagri) ,  Tamil, Telugu,  Urdu , and Nepali.
  • Exam Duration: The test will be of 2 Hours.
  • Type of Questions: The questions asked in the exam will be of objective Type (MCQs).
  • Marking Scheme: 1.25 mark will be awarded for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: Not Applicable

Class 9 Lateral Entry Test Pattern

  • Duration of exam: 2 ½ hours
  • Language mode: English/Hindi
  • Candidates are required give their answers in OMR sheet.

How to Record the Answers?

Candidates should know that they’ll be provided a separate answer sheet in which they have to mark the answer to the questions. Students can only use a black/blue ball pen to mark their answers. There will be 4 choices and only one will be the correct. Candidates have to choose the correct answer out of the 4 given options.

The answer sheet will be of optical character recognition/intelligence character recognition. Any type of overwriting, cutting or erasing on the answer sheet is not permitted. Candidates will be provided the test booklet based on the language opted by them for the test. In case, a student wants to change the test language, he/she should inform the authority before the commencement of the exam. It is essential for the students to qualify in all the 3 sections of the exam. They should devote their time to each section accordingly.

JNVST Syllabus

Candidates should align their test preparation with the help of syllabus and the JNVST Exam Pattern 2024 associated with the selection test.

Mental Ability Test: This section of the question paper will be based about the non-verbal reasoning. Questions will be asked on visual figures and diagrams only. This section will be divided into 10 parts and will contain 5 questions per part. Here are the topics that students must prepare to clear this section of the exam- Odd man out series, figure matching, complete the pattern, complete the figure series, analogy, geometrical figure completion, mirror imaging, punched hole pattern, space visualization, and embedded figures.

Arithmetic Test: This section will test the basic mathematical calculations and arithmetic skills of the students. Candidates need to prepare the following topics to qualify this section- Number system, 4 fundamental operations on whole number, fundamental operations on the fractional number, factors and multiples, LCM/HCF, decimals and its operations, conversion of fractions to decimals etc.

Language Test: The last section of the question paper will test the comprehension reading skills of the students. There will be 3 passages given in the paper and students have to answer the questions asked about them.
