JEXPO 2020 – West Bengal Polytechnic Application (Re-opens), Syllabus, Pattern

JEXPO 2020 exam will be conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education (WBSCTE) for admission to the 1st year classes of Diploma in Engineering & Technology offered by various colleges/institutes in the state. The exam will be conducted in offline mode i.e.  Pen and paper-based. In order to be eligible for admission through JEXPO entrance exam, candidates will need to apply for the same. Eligibility Criteria

You need to confirm your eligibility before you apply for the exam:

Qualifying Examination: A candidate should have passed/appeared class 10th with at least 35% aggregate marks without the marks of the additional subject (without rounding up).

Compulsory Subjects: Mathematics, Physical Science (Science) and English are mandatory subjects in the qualifying examination.

Note: A candidate must have scored minimum pass marks in all the three subjects mentioned above.

JEXPO Application Form 2020

The application form for JEXPO 2020 is now available online. Candidates opting for online mode will need to fill the online application form by visiting the official website of the JEXPO. The OMR application form (offline) can be obtained from all the Government, Government Sponsored and Self-Financed Polytechnics affiliated to WBSCTE in West Bengal and one Centre in Tripura. The OMR form will need to be submitted at the places from where candidates have obtained the form. For filling the online application form, candidates will need to register for the same using basic details such as Name, Email ID & Phone number. Candidates will need to pay a certain amount as the application fee in order to submit their application successfully. JEXPO 2020 Syllabus

The syllabus for JEXPO exam will be based on the curriculum of class 10th . Candidates need to prepare for the exam strictly according to the syllabus prescribed for it to fetch good marks. Following are the key topics included in the syllabus that a candidate must prepare from –

Mathematics: Graph, Co-ordinate Geometry – Distance Formula, Profit & Loss, Statistics, Linear Simultaneous Equations, Properties of Parallelogram, Polynomial, Factorization, Real Numbers, Laws of Indices, Transversal & Mid-Point Theorem, Theorems on Area, Rectangular Parallelepiped or Cuboid, Ratio and Proportion, Theorems related to circle, Compound Interest, etc.

Physical Science: Force & Motion, Atomic Structure, Sound, Measurement, Work, Power & Energy, Mole Concept, Matter- Structure and Properties, Periodic Table, Solution, Current electricity, Acids, Bases & Salts, Sound, Heat, Separation of Components of Mixtures, Water, etc

How to Prepare for JEXPO 2020?

The exam time can be quite hectic, it’s important for a candidate to remain calm and prepare for the exam whole-heartedly. Given below are some tips on how to prepare for the JEXPO exam which will help a candidate in fetching good marks in the exam.

  • Understand the exam pattern and syllabus before starting your JEXPO 2020 preparation. Applicants should go through the previous year’s papers to understand what type of questions will be asked in the exam.

Exam Center

Candidates residing outside West Bengal (except Tripura) will have to choose the exam center from the districts of Kolkata, Howrah, South 24 Parganas or North 24 Parganas only.

Admit Card

Candidates will be able to download the admit card via online mode only. No physical admit card/hall ticket will be sent to the candidates by whatever means. Candidates can download the admit card by providing their Form No. /Application number and Name. To download the JEXPO 2020 admit card, candidates will need to visit the official website. The admit card mustn’t be torn/damaged by a candidate. The entry to the exam hall will only be permitted if a candidate possesses the admit card and a valid ID proof for the exam. Applicants are suggested to keep a printout of the West Bengal Polytechnic admit card for future reference. The admit card must be preserved until the process of admission is over.


The result will probably be announced in the 3rd week of May 2020. Candidates can check their respective results by visiting the official website. The concerned authority will publish a merit list of the candidates shortlisted for the counselling. Here applicants should know that no individual rank card will be provided to a candidate by whatever means. Only those candidates can participate in the counselling whose name appears on the merit list.

Admission and Counseling

The admission will be given based on the counseling session conducted by the concerned authority. The shortlisted candidates will be called for the counselling process where they will have to choose a college and course. During the counselling session, all the necessary documents of the candidates will go through the verification process. Hence, candidates must bring the original as well as photocopies of the documents needed in the counselling.
