Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must satisfy required eligibility criteria before applying for B.Ed Admission offered by Jadavpur University. The prescribed eligibility criteria are as follows:

Candidate having graduation or Post Graduation from a recognized university with at least 50% marks (General category) are eligible to apply for B.Ed admission in Jadavpur University. This condition will not be applicable to candidates appointed as teachers earlier to the beginning of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) act. Candidates who have completed their last examination through a distance learning mode have to appear for a written qualifying test to be eligible for admission

Minimum percentage marks secured in undergraduate or the postgraduate course from any recognized university or institution:-

  • For both fresher & deputed candidates from the general category – 50%
  • Candidates from SC/ST category (For fresher) – 40%*
  • Physically Disabled candidates (For fresher) – 45%
  • For SC/ST category (Deputed) 40% (Honors graduate and Master Degree)
  • Candidates from SC/ST category (For Deputed) – 37.5% (Pass graduate)
  • PD Candidates (For Deputed) – 45% (Pass graduate / Master Degree/ Honors graduate)

 Age criteria-

  • For Fresher candidates, the age limit would be 35 years
  • For Deputed candidates, there will be no Age restriction
  • Note: Only those candidates who are teaching in class IX, X, XI and XII are eligible under Deputed category

Jadavpur University B.Ed Application Form 2018: How to apply?

Applications for Jadavpur University B.Ed Admission will be made available online through university official website i.e. Candidates need to fill the application form carefully as per instructions. On successful application, you will receive the application number.

You are then mandatory to log in using your unique application number and date of birth and re-enter marks of qualifying degree attained and total teaching experience. They need to send duly filled in Application Form at DACEE in person or by Post on or before due date along with a DD of Rs.100/- in favour of ‘Jadavpur University’ payable at Kolkata.

Selection Process

Fresher candidates will be selected for Jadavpur University B.Ed admission on the basis of merit calculated through the following score:

For Secondary or equivalent examination % of marks x 0.1
For Higher Secondary or equivalent examination % of marks x 0.1*
For Honors Graduates (On the basis of aggregate of total marks scored in Honors paper only) % of marks x 0.3
For Special Honors Graduates (On the basis of aggregate of total marks scored in Special Honors paper only) % of marks x 0.2
For Post Graduate selection % of marks x 0.3
For M.Phil degree selection 3 marks
For Ph.D degree selection 5 marks
For Pass Graduates (On the basis of the aggregate of all marks obtained) % of marks x 0.1

Admission under Deputed category will be done on the basis of the number of years of continual approved service in Government or Government aided schools.

    I am working as a computer teacher in a private English medium school for last 15 years. Am I eligible to pursue degree from JU? As in the morning I will be busy in my school, I might not be able to attend class in the morning. Is regular attendance must there?
