ISI 2023: Application Form, Syllabus, Exam Pattern

The Indian Statistical Institute will organize ISI 2023 for providing an opportunity to the candidates for admission into various UG, PG, and JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) courses offered by it. The admission into ISI campuses at Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, and Tezpur will be granted to the candidates based on their ISI score.

Eligibility Criteria for ISI 2023

All the candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria laid down by the authority for admission into different courses through the ISI 2023 as mentioned below-

  • For B.Stat (Hons.)/B.Math (Hons.): A candidate must have passed class 12th with subjects English and mathematics.
  • For M.Math: A candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration or have done BE/B.Tech with mathematics/B.Stat from ISI.
  • For M.Tech (CS): A candidate should hold a master degree in Mathematics/ Statistics/IT/Physics/ Computer Science/Computer Applications/ Electronic Science or BE / B.Tech or its equivalent.
  • For M.Tech (QRQO):  A candidate should hold a master degree in Statistics/ Master degree in Mathematics with Probability and Statistics/ BE/B.Tech or equivalent and must  have secured the passing marks in Chemistry & Physics in class 12th / Mathematics at graduation level.
  • For MS (QE):  A candidate should possess a 3 year Bachelor degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics & Physics/ B.Stat from ISI/ passed B.E or B.Tech from a recognized university.
  • For MS(QMS): A candidate should possess a 3 year Bachelor Degree in Mathematics/ have done B.E or B.Tech from a recognized university.

ISI 2023 Application Form

Students can apply for the ISI exam through the official website https://www.isical.ac.in.They will be required to register for the exam and then only they can proceed for the application form. The particulars in the application form such as educational details, personal details etc. should be filled carefully as once the form is submitted, no correction request will be allowed by the authorities. Candidates will also need to keep a scanned copy of the photograph & signature while filling the form. Applicants must pay the application fee to submit the form as without the application fee, the forms received will be rejected. Application Fee

Candidates from General category need to pay Rs. 1000/- as the application fee whereas those belonging to the SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PD categories will be required to pay Rs. 500/-.

Mode of Payment: The stated application fee can be paid using the debit card/credit card/net banking or through SBI Challan.

ISI 2023 Exam Pattern

Here is the exam pattern for ISI exam-

  • Mode: Offline (Pen and paper-based)
  • Duration: 2 Hours
  • Type of Questions: MCQs and Descriptive
  • Session: Two- Forenoon and Afternoon
  • Total Questions: 30 (MCQ part)
  • Negative marking: Applicable

The MCQ part of the exam will probably be held in the Forenoon session whereas the descriptive part will be held in the Afternoon session.

ISI 2023 Syllabus

The syllabus for ISI 2023 Exam will vary from course to course. Candidates applying for UG programme need to study as per the syllabus prescribed for class 11th and 12th. ISI 2023 Admit Card

The admit card for ISI Exam will be provided on the official website. Candidate can download the hall ticket form the website https://www.isical.ac.in.  The printout of the admit card should be taken and a copy of the same must be retained for future use. Candidates who don’t possess the admit card and a valid ID proof will not be allowed to take the test. The admit card mustn’t be damaged/torn as then it will be considered invalid. Candidates will have to return the admit card during the Forenoon session if their program code is DSTT and DCAG. Otherwise, they have to return it in the Afternoon Session.

ISI Result 2023

The result of the ISI 2023 can be retrieved from the official website. After the result announcement, candidates will be eligible for the next stage of exam i.e. interview. Only those candidates will be called for the interview procedure whose qualifies the written exam. The merit list will be based on the scores obtained by the candidates in the written exam as well as in the interview.

ISI 2023 Selection Procedure

The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of the performance in the written test and interview. The final selection will be based on a stage-wise process where each stage will comprise of – score-list preparation, determination of qualifying score, shortlisting and preparation of merit list.
