Interior Design- Eligibility, Career, Salary Package

A person who recreates and modifies the interiors of residential and commercial interior spaces using the reference with Computer graphics of sketches is called Interior Designer. In this current almost-urbanized trendy world, one who specialized in Interior Design can get lucrative jobs in the industries such as hotel and tourism, hospitality, real estate, etc. For becoming an efficient interior designer, the potential skills like critical thinking, pertinent historical and technical knowledge, creative ideas, and research skills and formal design skills are mandatory.

Education and Eligibility

In India, there are lots of Institutes offering UG/PG level Interior designing courses. If you are attending UG level Interior designing course, then pass in pre-university is enough for attending the course. Likewise, if you go for a PG or research level Interior designing course, then a pass from a relevant discipline is mandatory for applying. However, they will be shortlisted for the admission as per their performance in the entrance test. The course Interior design comprises of subjects including- Graphic Presentation, Orthographic Projection, Sketching, Solid Geometry, Auto Cad, etc.

One who specialized in the interior designing stream can work in the profiles such as Interior Designer, Architect, Lighting Designer, Exhibition Designer, Kitchen Designer, Studio Manager, etc. Most of the interior designers are found working freelance consultant than the full-time designers.

Salary of Interior Design Professional

As like every other job profile, the salary of Interior designer may vary according to the factors such as – work experience, portfolio, present company and position and candidate’s work experience.  Say an instance- A candidate who studied Interior designing from National Institute of Designing will be much higher than the candidate who studied interior designing from a local institute. In India, the salary of an Interior Designer will be around 2.5 Lakhs to 3 Lakhs per annum.
