About Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee

Established in 1847, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee is India’s seventh IIT situated in Roorkee, Uttarakhand. It was founded by the then lieutenant governor James Thomason as Thomason College of Civil Engineering and it was gained university status in the year 1949 and stayed University of Roorkee till 2001. It was transformed into IIT in the year 2001 by an act of Government of India and a law is now changed into act by parliament to make IIT, Roorkee an Institution of National Importance.

Bachelor of Technology – four year (10 courses)

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicant must have done plus two or (10+2) or Equivalent with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Biotechnology, Language and any other subject with minimum of 55% marks. There is a relaxation of 5% for all reserved category candidates.

Course fee: 3.57 Lakhs

Master of Technology – two years (23 courses)

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidate must have done graduation and a bachelor’s degree in any stream got through the 10+2+4 pattern or an equivalent qualification with at least 55% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA of any of the Universities integrated by an act of the central or state government in India. There is a relaxation of 5% for SC/ST category candidates.

Course fee: 1.18 Lakh

Bachelor of Architecture – five years

Eligibility criteria:

Applicant must have done 10+2 or Equivalent examination

Course fee: 3.86 L

Master of Architecture- two years

Candidate must be passed B.Arch. or its equivalent

Master of Science- two years

Applicant must have done Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject for at least 2 years/4 semesters

Course fee: Rs 30400

Doctor of Philosophy (Science) – two years

Applicant must have passed Post Graduate and equivalent

Course fee: 28400

Master of Business Administration- two years

Eligibility criteria:

Candidate must have done Bachelor’s degree in any field of Engineering or Technology with first class or its correspondent, or a Master’s degree with first class or its correspondent in any stream from a recognized Institution or University. Students, who are pursing in final year, are also eligible to apply. Such students, if selected, will be admitted temporarily, provided they fulfill all necessities for the qualifying degree with minimum percentage and CGPA or its correspondent by the prescribed date.

Applicants of General or OBC category looking admission to the MBA course must have score at least 60% marks or CGPA of 6.00 on a 10 point scale at qualifying degree level; but for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD category, this percentage is 55% or 5.50 CGPA on a 10 point scale. The percentage will be taken on the basis of aggregate marks/CGPA awarded in qualifying examination.
