IIT Ropar is an autonomous educational institution undertaken by the Ministry Of Higher Education, Government of India. Previously, the Institution was known as Women Polytechnic, Rupnagar. Later, The Ministry of Government of India was converted the educational institution to IIT. Initially, it was started at a Temporary campus in Punjab and then the Gov. of Punjab had allotted 525 acres (2.12 km2) in Rupnagar for starting its own campus. IIT Ropar located in Rupanagar of Punjab. Admissions to the programs are offering to the candidates, who were attained mandatory declared scores in the relevant Entrance Exam.

Admission Procedure
The admission of the candidates to the Graduate programs are based on the marks they received from the JEE- Advanced exam.
Ph.D. Programs in IIT Ropar
Eligibility
IIT Ropar offering Ph.D. courses to the departments of Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Humanities, and Social Science, Mathematics, and Physics. The admission criteria to the Ph.D. courses to various disciplines are different from one to the other.
The Admission Eligibility of PhD in Engineering: Applicant with a Master’s in M.tech/ M. E., M. Sc. (Engineering) or MS by Research with a Minimum of 60% or above marks or at least 6.5/10 CPI is eligible for applying a Ph.D. program in Engineering at IIT Ropar.

Applicant with a Master’s degree In Science with a Minimum of 70% marks or above or at least 7.0/10 CPI or CGPA with a valid GATE, CSIR, UGC or NBHM Score, is eligible for applying a Ph.D. program in Engineering at IIT Ropar.

Applicant with a master’s Degree in B.Tech, B.E. or B.Sc. (Engineering) degree with at least 80% marks or above (Or) B.Tech Degree from IITs having at a minimum of 8/10 CPI or CGPA with a Valid GATE Score.
The Admission Eligibility of PhD in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics: Applicant with a Masters Degree in engineering with at least 70% marks or 7/10 CPI or CGPA.
