The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) application form will be available in April 2024. Started in 2008, IIST is a self-governing body under the Department of Space (DOS). The institute offers a wide range of UG, PG, and doctoral- level courses through the IIST Admission procedure.
It is a national-level admission process for admission to various undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD courses in the field of engineering, science, architecture, arts, etc. The admission will be offered at the university’s campus located in Valiamala, Thiruvananthapuram. Selection will be based on GATE, JEE Advanced, JEST scores.

IIST Eligibility Criteria 2024
Candidates should check the prescribed eligibility criteria before applying for the IIST 2024 admission process.
For UG Courses
Indian nationals/ OCI/ PIO card holders will be eligible to apply.
Candidate must have cleared 10+2 with at least 75% marks (65% for candidates belonging to reserved category) or its equivalent examination from any recognized board.
They must pass the qualifying exam with physics, mathematics, and chemistry with one language subject.
Candidates born on or after 1st October 1999 are eligible to apply. There will be an age relaxation of 5 years provided to the reserved category.
A valid JEE Advanced score is mandatory to apply for UG admission at IIST.
For PG courses
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in B. E/ B.Tech/ Masters of Science with at least 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST/PWD) or its equivalent exam from any recognized institute/ university.
The maximum age will be 32 years as on 2nd May 2024.
Candidates must hold a valid scorecard for GATE 2024 / JEST 2024 exam.
IIST Admission Application Form 2024
The admission application form for IIST UG & PG will be released separately on the official website. Candidates should fill in all the required details in the application form correctly as no correction facility will be provided later.
Candidates should visit the online application portal link to get the form. Thereafter, choose the preferred course and start the registration process. Candidates have to provide details like name, number, email address, etc. for the registration.
Once the registration is done, candidates will be able to access the application form. Fill in the details as asked in the form accurately.
Candidates have to pay the registration fee as per their choice of course. Upload the required documents as per the given dimensions.
Candidates should take the printout of the submitted form for future reference.

IIST 2024 Selection Process
For UG courses
The selection of candidates for B.Tech and BTech Dual (BTech+MS/ MTech) programmes is done based on the candidates’ valid scores in JEE Advanced followed by counseling rounds.
For PG Course
Candidates should hold a valid GATE Score. The selection for PG courses is based on the marks obtained in written test and interview.
PhD Course
Candidates should have a valid score in CSIR NET/ UGC NET/ JEST (or) GATE. Selection is based on the candidate’s marks in the written test followed by the interview.
IIST Admission 2024 Rank List
The authority will release a rank list for IIST admission online mode on its official website. It is expected that the rank list will be announced in May 2024. IIST will decide category-wise rank list based on the candidate’s scores obtained in the national level examinations i.e., JEE Advanced/ GATE/ JEST etc.
In case of a tie in aggregate marks, a higher rank will be assigned to the students who have achieved higher marks in Physics/ Mathematics/ National level exam. Candidates are advised to take the printout of the IIST Rank list for further use.
IIST Cutoff
The authority will release the IIST 2024 cutoff online after a few days of the rank announcement. The Cutoff is the minimum qualifying marks required by candidates to be eligible for the admission process.
IIST Cut off marks will be made after considering various factors such as the candidate’s rank, the number of seats available, the total number of candidates applied, previous year’s cutoff trend, etc. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in counselling based on their cutoff rank.
IIST Counselling
Selected candidates will have to appear in the counselling round as per their merit rank. The process of counselling will include interview rounds, document verification, seat allotment, and admission fee payment etc.
After the seat allotment, candidates have to pay the required fee to confirm their admission. Thereafter, candidates will need to report to the institutes for completing the admission procedure. Failing to do so, the admission will be cancelled and the seat will be offered to the next candidate.
