Eligibility Criteria for IIST
Find below the minimum eligibility requirements for appearing in IIST:
Eligibility for Undergraduate Program
Go through the minimum eligibility conditions for getting admission into undergraduate program:
- Indian Nationals can only apply.
- The date of birth of candidates must fall on or after 1st October 1993 (PwD/SC/ST category candidates should be born on or after 1st October 1998).
- Candidates should have cleared class 12th or its equivalent exam with 75% marks in aggregate (65% for PwD/SC/ST).
- They must have qualifying marks in JEE Main & Advanced.
Eligibility for Postgraduate Program
- Only Indian citizens can apply.
- Candidates should be minimum 28 years old as on deadline for receiving of application form. PwD/SC/ST category candidates may get relaxation in the age.
- They should have M.Sc/ BE/B.Tech/M.S. or equivalent degree with obtaining minimum 60% marks.
- They need to have a valid JEST/GATE/UGC NET score in the relevant field.
IIST Application Form
It is only possible to fill and submit IIST application form in online mode. If you are meeting with all eligibility requirements then you may submit the form for the undergraduate programme from May onward. Filling personal & educational info, uploading signature, photograph, cast certificate, medical certificate and making payment through the challan are the major parts of filling the form. Post submission of the form, please do not forget to take its printout.

- Candidates have to make payment of fee either through SBI or UBI challan.
- NRI applicants have to make payment thru demand draft. The draft needs to be drawn in favor of “THE REGISTRAR, IIST” payable at thiruvananthapuram, India.

Rank List Declaration
The authority will prepare the rank list based on candidates’ performance in the entrance test. Aspirants may access the rank list thru online mode from the official website of IIST. Candidates, whose names reside in the rank list, have to appear in the counseling procedure.
IIST Counseling
The rank list for undergraduate program will be prepared based on candidates’ performance in the JEE Advanced whereas, the PG merit list would be prepared based on merit in GATE/JEST/UGC NET examination. Qualified candidates have to register for the admission and further appear in the Interview process.
