IGNOU Sciences Courses 2022: School of Sciences (SOS): The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is the largest open and distance learning University located in New Delhi. The university was founded in 1985 and has been named after the former prime minister of India Smt. Indira Gandhi.The university offers numerous distance learning programmes in more than 100 disciplines at the bachelor, Masters and the doctorate level. IGNOU’s foundation was laid to offer numerous programmes in different disciplines through the distance and open learning. IGNOU’s all educational and financial operations and activities are monitored and regulated by the Human resource and development ministry, Government of India.
With the challenge of providing qualitative theoretical and practical education in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Life Sciences IGNOU’s School of Science were brought into being in 1986. The ‘School of Science’ (SOS) came up with ‘Bachelor of Science’ program, which was unique of its kind as the Bachelor of Science programme was not offered through distance learning earlier. The SOS has developed more than 100 courses so far and candidates can take admission in the SOS if they want to pursue any of the bachelor, masters and decorate level courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Life Sciences.
Initially, the Bachelor of Science was a general programme but later the programme was specialized separately for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany and Zoology.

The School of Science (SOS)of IGNOU offers several Science and academic programmes at the bachelor, masters and doctorate level. Besides, there are other programmes like Diploma Programmes, Certificate Programmes, PG and Advance Certificate Programmes in statistics, Chemistry,Environment and Sustainable Development which candidates can pursue from the IGNOU’s school of science.
