IGNOU School of Management Studies (SOMS): The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is the largest university which offers several educational programmes through distance learning mode. The University, which is located in New Delhi, has various regional study centres all across the nation. The university got established in 1985. The university was named after the first lady prime minister of India Smt. Indira Gandhi. The university offers numerous distance learning programmes in more than thousands of programmes disciplines at the bachelor, Masters and the doctorate level. IGNOU has established different schools where candidates can take admission to pursue programmes in different disciplines. Candidates, who want to pursue a programme in management in the‘School of Management Studies’ (SOMS). All educational activities and financial operations of the IGNOU are monitored and regulated by the Human resource and development ministry, Government of India.
Details of the School of Management Studies (SOMS)
The School of Management Studies (SOMS), instigated its educational processes in 1987. The university launched the management programmes in Management as the pilot programmes. The University currently offers 4 programmes in Management and 14 programmes in Commerce which candidates can pursue from the ‘School of Management Studies’ (SOMS). There are total 65 courses under the Management Programmes which are offered by the IGNOU’s SOMS. Besides, candidates can pursue 46 courses in the Commerce discipline from the university.

- The School offers the programmes through a multimedia approach comprised with the audio-video methodology, face to face interaction with the assistance of the academic counsellors at the different study centres.
