IGNOU School of Agriculture (SOA): Established in January 2005 at Indira Gandhi National Open University, the IGNOU SOA is approved by Indian Council for Agriculture Research and affiliated with IGNOU University. It was started with aim to educate the rural unemployed youth in the field of agriculture. Located in Maidan Ghari, New Delhi, the IGNOU SOA offers wide range of courses in different disciplines of agriculture. The influence of agriculture education through distance mode will soon be visible in the enlargement of new breeds of industrialists, better employment opportunities, higher wages and improved work environment. The School of Agriculture has puts its major emphasis on educational and extension activities in agriculture at the domestic and international level.

  1. When are the SOA academic courses being provided?
  • The university offers all diploma and PG diploma courses of School of Agriculture (SOA) only once in a year i.e. July session only
  • All certificate and PG Certificate courses of SOA are being offered twice in a year namely January session and July session.
  1. Does the admissions are open throughout the year?

IGNOU organizes ‘Walk-in admission’ process where interested candidates who want to get enroll in any of the programmes have to approach the concerned Regional Director during office hours. The admission for SOA courses will remain open throughout the year. However, according to the admission schedule the candidates will be allotted admission to the respective sessions. For example, if an applicant has submitted the application form after the due date of admission for that particular session, his/her application would be considered in the next academic session.

  1. How to get admission for  IGNOU School of Agriculture Programme?

Interested and eligible candidates can get admission to School of Agriculture (SOA) programmes using the brochure and Application Form of IGNOU for all the courses of School of Agriculture (excluding Ph.D. admission).

  1. How can I get the School of Agriculture application Forms?

  1. What is the last admission date for SOA courses?

The expected schedule for submission of filled in application form for January and July sessions are provided below:

The above dates are tentative and subject to change as per the IGNOU SOA official admission notification. To know the actual last date for submission of SOA application form for that particular session, you are recommended to go through the official website of IGNOU i.e. www.ignou.ac.in on regular basis.

  1. Where should I need to submit the filled application form along with the prescribed fee?

Candidate should submit the filled in application form along with the prescribed course fee to the concerned Regional Centre. The details of Regional Centre area mentioned in the information brochure or can be accessed from http://www.ignou.ac.in/ignou/aboutignou/regional/website link.

  1. What is the procedure to submit the SOA programme fee?

The prescribed course fee should be submitted using Demand Draft or Cash challan or credit card. In case of payment through Demand Draft, the DD should be drawn in favour of IGNOU payable at the city of the Regional Centre.

If you are paying through Cash Challan/ Bank Draft, then at the back of DD/Challan Copy you need to provide some details like name, Auto generated Control Number issued by IGNOU and course applied. However, for downloaded application form you need to add the cost of prospectus in addition to the above said details.

  1. Can I apply through online mode?

Of course yes. To apply online for any of the School of Agriculture study programmes, Please go through the following admission link: https://onlineadmission.ignou.ac.in/.

  1. Whether I can get simultaneous admission in two study courses of IGNOU?

Those who are already registered in a course of one year or more than one year duration can also simultaneously enroll themselves for any certificate programme of 6 months duration. However, in case of any clashes in counselling and exam dates of both courses, the University will not be in liable to make adjustment.

  1. If I have not done the programme in prescribed maximum duration, what should I do?

Students, who are failed to complete their study programme within the prescribed maximum period of time, can take re-admission for extra time. Such students have to make fee payment per programme on pro-rate basis. The   complete details of pro-rate fee and the Re-admission Form are given at the Regional Centres for all the programmes.

  1. Where counselling process is conducted?

The theory and practical counselling sessions are organized at the Study Centre/Programme Study Centre (PSCs) allotted throughout the country.  It should be noted that the study centre may varies from course to course.

  1. Is it must to be present at the counselling sessions?

It is necessary for all the students to attend the practical counselling held at PSCs for all School of Agriculture courses with practical component. At least 75% attendance is required to appear for the examinations.

  1. Where I should submit my assignments?

Assignments can be submitted at the Programme Study Centre given to you.

  1. When is the Term End Examinations (TEE) conducted?

Term End Examinations (TEEs) are organized twice in a year i.e. in the month of June and December

  1. Where are Term End Examinations (TEEs) held?

TEEs will be organized at the IGNOU notified exam centre situated throughout the country.

    Not in special ground. Need a diploma course on core agriculture or on whole agriculture subject.
