Course details

• Bachelor of Arts (Tourism Studies) (BTS)

It is a three-year bachelor degree course which was started with the objective of providing knowledge, competence, and skills in the professional area of tourism at the UG level. IGNOU SOTHSM offers BTS course in English as well as Hindi medium.

• Bachelor of Science (Hospitality and Hotel Administration) (BHM)

BHM, a professional degree course is launched in the collaboration with the National Council for Hotel Management Catering Technology (NCHMCT), Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. It was started with the objective of developing human resources for the Hotel Industry and Hospitality Services. Alike other bachelor degree courses, this programme can be completed in a three-year duration.

Eligibility Criteria for IGNOU BHM, BTS

Candidates seeking admission to SOTHSM of IGNOU at UG level must satisfy the required eligibility criteria as prescribed by the university. The IGNOU SOTHSM Bachelor’s degree admission criteria are as follows:

For Bachelor of Arts in Tourism Studies (BTS)

• Candidates must have done BPP from IGNOU or 10+2 or its equivalent examination.
• There is no provision on age limit

For Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Hotel Administration (BHM)

• Applicant should have completed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with minimum qualifying marks.
• There is no provision on age limit

Admission Process

For admission in aforesaid courses, NCHMCT conducts a national level entrance test (JEE) at different Institutes of Hotel Management all across India. Admission is strictly based on candidate’s scores obtained in entrance examination organized by NCHMCT.
