GPAT 2024: Application Form, Eligibility Criteria, Exam Pattern, Syllabus

The Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test popularly known as GPAT is organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is a national-level exam conducted every year to provide admission to M.Pharma  or equivalent courses. It is expected that GPAT 2024 will be held in May 2024.

Apart from AICTE- recognized institutions/colleges, 800 participating institutes accept GPAT scores. Candidates willing to appear in the exam must submit their GPAT application form on or before the due date. The complete information about the GPAT exam is provided in this article.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates have to satisfy the prescribed GPAT eligibility criteria to appear in the exam. Some important points regarding the eligibility criteria are given below.

The candidate should be a citizen of India.

Applicant must be graduated in Pharmacy or equivalent from any recognized university/institute.

There will be no age bar for appearing in the GPAT exam.

GPAT Application Form

National Testing Agency (NTA) will start the GPAT application process probably in February 2024. Interested and eligible candidates must fill out the application form online by visiting the official website of conducting body. The GPAT Registration process will include the following steps.

Candidates should register themselves online with a valid phone number and email address.

After the successful registration, candidates will be allowed to access the application form by using their login credentials received at the time of registration.

Candidates should fill in the required as per the prescribed manner.

Candidates must upload scanned copies of specific documents as per the given dimensions.

Applicants should verify the details carefully before submitting the form.

For successful application submission, candidates have to pay the GPAT application form fee.

GPAT 2024 Application Fee

The application fee for the Male/General category is Rs 2200/

Application fee for Female/third gender category or candidates belonging to OBC-NCL/ SC/ ST/ Gen-EWS/ PwD categories is Rs 1100/.

Exam Pattern

The GPAT exam will be conducted through online mode. The medium of the question paper will be English only. It is an objective- type test that consists of 125 questions for 500 marks. The questions will be asked from 5 different sections.

Each question carries 4 marks and there will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer. The duration of the exam is three hours. The section-wise distribution of questions along with marks is listed below.

Syllabus

Complete knowledge of the GPAT syllabus is important for the candidates planning to appear in the exam. The GPAT syllabus includes a total of 19 topics/subjects. These topics are divided into 5 sections including Pharmaceutical Chemistry and allied subjects, Pharmaceutics & Allied Subjects, Pharmacognosy & Allied Subjects, Pharmacology & Allied Subjects, and other subjects. Candidates must check the detailed syllabus from the official website and prepare accordingly.

Admit Card

NTA will release the admit card on its official website. Candidates who have completed the application process can download the admit card online by providing their GPAT registration number. Candidates must take the printout of the downloaded admit card and carry the same on the day of the exam.

Answer Key

The GPAT Answer Key 2024 will release in May 2024 after the conduction of the exam. It will be available online in PDF format only. Initially, a provisional answer key will be released along with the objection facility. Candidates will be able to challenge the tentative answer key by paying the required fee. With the help of the answer key, candidates can calculate their estimated GPAT marks secured in the entrance test.

Result

The conducting body will announce the result in May 2024. Candidates who are going to appear in the upcoming GPAT exam must check their results online on the official website. The result of the GPAT exam will include the details like candidate’s GPAT Score, qualifying status, rank etc. The selected candidates will be invited for GPAT counselling.

Counselling 

The NTA will invite qualified candidates for GPAT Counselling based on their GPAT 2024 merit rank. The counselling will start separately by the various NTA-approved colleges. The selected students will have to register separately for colleges in which they want to get enrolled in. The process of document verification will be done at the time of counselling.
