GATE Application form: Last Date, Online Registration Date, Registration Fee

GATE Application form will be filled and submitted only in the online mode. The form will be available on the GOAPS website and you will also find all the relevant information on this website. Entering details of personal and academic qualifications, uploading scanned images of important documents, entering the information of valid identity proof and payment of application fee are the major steps involved in the GATE application process.

Latest: GATE 2023 application form has been released on 30th August 2022.

GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS)

The GOAPS is the web page from where the candidates can obtain the GATE Application Form 2023 and in addition to this, it also acts as an interface between the candidates and the GATE Administration. This website allows the applicants to:

Get Engineering,Exam Updates through e-mail, by entering your details below.
  • Apply for the examination by filling the form and uploading photograph, signature and other documents.
  • Pay the application fee through any of the electronic payment modes.
  • Check the Status of the application form: Received, Under scrutiny, Accepted, Defect status, Status after rectification, Rejected with valid reasons, Admit Card ready for download, etc.
  • Download Admit Card.
  • View your answers, marks and GATE score.
  • Download GATE scorecard.

GOAPS Registration: providing the details such as full name, email address, mobile number, and a chosen password, the candidate will have to register themselves. All the communication process will be done via the email and SMS, so the mail id and contact number provided must be valid and always remain with the candidate. Kindly note that only one registration per email is allowed.

GOAPS Enrollment ID: The applicants will receive an enrolment id after the successful completion of the registration process. This id will be sent via email to the candidates and will be used for all further communications.

GOAPS Password: A password is required while registering for GATE. This password along with the enrollment id must be remembered by the candidate. So, the candidates are advised to choose a password that they can remember easily but not a password that can be guessed easily by others also. For this, the candidates must avoid using name, date of birth, simple set of strings or any combination of all that.

How to fill Application Form?

After the process of registration is over, the applicants will have to proceed towards filling the application form. The application form for GATE exam will be filled and submitted only in the online mode at GOAPS.

Data required to fill GATE Application Form

  • Details of personal information which includes name, date of birth, mobile number, parents’ name, parents’ mobile number, etc. The name of the applicant must be same as the one mentioned in the qualifying exam certificate or the certificate issued by the institute in which he/she is currently studying.
  • Address for communication
  • Name and address of the College/ Institute
  • GATE paper
  • GATE exam city choice: The candidates will be given the choice to select 3 cities for GATE, so that if they do not get the first option, then still they can take their exam in the city that is comparatively nearby.
  • Candidates’ photograph and signature in the specified format
  • Scanned copy of Category (SC/ST) certificate, PWD Certificate, Dyslexic Certificate (if applicable) in PDF format
  • Scanned copy of the Eligibility Certificate (Degree Certificate or Provisional Certificate or Certificate from the Head of the Department/Institute) in PDF format
  • Details of the ID proof that will be carried at the exam center: Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar, College ID, Employee ID and Driving License. For International candidates valid Passport, Government issued ID, College ID and Employee ID
  • Net banking/ debit card/ credit card details for fee payment

Details of the ID Proof and Supporting Documents

Eligibility Documents:

The candidates who have passed their qualifying examinations, they will have to upload the degree certificate/provisional certificate/course completion certificate/professional certificate/membership certificate issued by the institute or society.

The candidates who have not received degree certificate yet or have not completed the program due to backlogs/arrears can submit final year mark sheet of any semester.

Those who download final year mark sheet from the Internet must get it digitally signed or duly signed with seal by the competent authority (Registrar, Controller of Examination etc).

Those who are expecting to complete one of the qualifying have to upload a Certificate from the Head of the Department/Institute or a copy of mark sheet for Section A of AMIE. This certificate must have the signature and seal of the Head of Institute/Department with the current date.

Photograph & Signature:

Care must be taken while uploading the Photograph & Signature as uploading these documents in improper format can lead to cancellation of the application.

  • A recent passport-sized, colored photograph with white/light background must be uploaded.
  • The face should occupy 50% of the total area of the photograph and the face must be clearly visible (not covered by sunglasses, hair, shadow or any piece of cloth).
  • Glare should be avoided in case the candidate wears spectacles.
  • The signature must be taken on a white paper with black/ dark blue ink pen and should not contain all capital letters.
  • Only professional camera or scanner must be used.

Category (SC/ST) Certificate:

The candidates belonging to the SC/ST category (and not OBC-NC) will have to upload a valid certificate issued by only the authorized officials. The sane certificate also needs to be produced at the time of admission. For those who get caught in submitting false documents, actions will be taken against such candidates.

Person with Disability (PwD) Certificate:

The candidates seeking the fee concession under the PwD category must submit a certificate for the same, offered by the competent authority. The same certificate will also be required at the time of admission. However, the benefit will only be provided to the candidates with more than 40% disability, irrespective of the type of impairment.

Dyslexic Certificate:

The dyslexic candidates need to provide a proper certificate issued by any Dyslexia Association. As with the other certificate, this certificate will also be required during the admission process.

Note:

The verification of the Category (SC/ST) Certificate, PwD Certificate and Dyslexic Certificate are the responsibility of the admitting institutes and the GATE committee does not hold any responsibility for that.

Apart from SC/ST/PwD and female candidates, no other category is eligible for application fee concession.

Payment of Application Fee

The application fee payment will also be done via the GOAPS portal. The portal will automatically redirect to the online payment gateway where the applicant can complete the payment via net banking/ credit card/ debit card. Once the successful submission of the fee is done, the candidate will once again directed to the GOAPS portal from where he/she can download the duly filled application form in PDF format.

The following is the structure of the application fee to be submitted:

SC/ST/PwD category candidates Rs. 750/- (Rs. 1250/- during the extended period)
Other candidates Rs. 1500/- (Rs. 2000/- during the extended period)

The application fee for the foreign national candidates is:

The fee for candidates with Indian nationality appearing at International centers:

Note: Other charges such as service charge, processing fee, etc. will also be applicable in addition to the above-mentioned application fee.

Error in the fee payment:

In case you are not sure about your successful fee payment, you can login to the GOAPS portal after some time and check the status of your payment.

If it occurs that the fee amount has been deducted from your bank account and no acknowledge of fee payment is received from the GOAPS, not to worry, the amount will be credit back to your account automatically. However, you must make the payment again without waiting for the refund as it may take up to few weeks.

Now, before you make the final submission of the form, you must ensure that the details filled in the form are correct and true to your knowledge. Once submitted finally, no modification will be made and the incorrectly submitted form is liable for cancellation. A copy of duly filled application form must be taken out for future reference. In case you forgot to download the printout right after the fee payment, you can log in again and take the printout then. There is no need to send the hard copy of the application form to any zonal GATE offices.
