Overview

G B Pant University is the first agricultural University of India that was inaugurated by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. Earlier, famous as Uttar Pradesh Agricultural University, the University earned its current name after the first Chief Minister of India- Govind Ballabh Pant. The University has its nine constituent colleges that organize its academic activities.

The University is affiliated to All India Technical Council of India, University Grants Commission and Indian Council of Agricultural Research

About the university

The University was formed to serve the agriculture sector of the Nation. With time, the University has grown to be an important source of High Yielding variety of seeds and other related technology. The University has greatly contributed to the Green Revolution. In earlier times, the University devoted 1600 acres of land to launch one of the largest seed production programs in India and since then Pantnagar seeds have become a brand name.

Admission Details

Admission to the University is made sternly on the basis of the scores that are obtained by the candidates in the Competitive Entrance Examination that is explicitly conducted the University excluding the courses below:-

For B.Tech course students are exclusively selected on the basis of merit of Joint Examination conducted by CBSE, New Delhi.

Master’s program that involves Molecular Biology and Biotechnology ought to be made via entrance examination that is conducted by J.N.U, New Delhi.

In case of admission done to business Master’s programs like MBA/ MBA (Agribusiness) admission ought to be made via CMAT scores and the GDPI conducted exclusively by the University.

In case of M.Tech program admissions are done on the basis students qualifying GATE examination is the subject (major) in which admission supposed to be made. The seats are filled on the basis of OGPA percentage. The candidates ought to have secured at least a OGPA of not less than 6.000/10.000 or 3.000/5.000 or a 55% marks in aggregate in case of the Universities/Institution where the scales are not sought to be applicable in Bachelor’s Degree.

Moreover, selection of candidate to other state candidates for M.Tech Agricultural Engineering Majors ought to be made via Entrance Examination that is organized by ICAR.

Admissions to MCA Programs are made as per the separate Entrance Examination that is conducted by the University. In case the candidate desires to appear for the Master’s program for MCA, he/she has to fill in exclusive application form.
