Foundation:
Kongu Engineering College was founded by Forty One Philanthropies of the Kongu Vellalar Community in Erode District, Tamil Nadu in October 1983. Kongu Institute of Technology was established by the trust in 1984. The Trust had also founded other colleges as Kongu Polytechnic College in 1983, Kongu Arts and Science College in 1994, Kongu Industrial Training Center in 1997 and Kongu International Matriculation Higher Secondary School in 2002.

Kongu Engineering College is providing the excellent placements of the engineering students studying in the campus of this institution. The Placement Cell of this institution was established in 1998.
