About the Government College of Engineering
The Government College of Engineering, Salem was established in the 1966 and it was the third Government Institution of Engineering established in the Tamil Nadu. Dr. R.S.D. Wahida is the present principal of the college. There are only three Engineering Colleges in The Tamil Nadu which provide the Metallurgical Engineering course and this is one of the three. The Government College of Engineering, Salem is an AUTONOMOUS COLLEGE which was established in 1966. It is an Engineering Education Center in Tamil Nadu. The NBA accreditation is there for the UG programs.
The college is located near the hilly area of Salem, Tamil Nadu. The National Highway 7 is the nearest of the Bangalore Highways to the college. The college is spread around the 400 acres area i.e. 1.62 square kilometers. The Government College of Engineering, Salem was established during the third five-year plan in the year of 1966. The aim of the college is to provide knowledgeable engineers to the country and produce the quality education among the students. The Anna University, Chennai affiliates the college. The college is located in the162 hectares area near hills.
