Overview & Foundation Details:
The Aligarh Muslim University was founded by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. It was the new and the final evolvement of the Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College (MAO) set up in 1877. The AMU, however, came into being in 1920 and has been a reputed name in the world of education since then. What started as the education centre for the Muslims of the Northern India has now become one of the leading centres of the higher education in India for all communities.

Fully functional university which maintains, 98 teaching departments grouped under 12 faculties, 15 centres, 3 academies and one institution. The Aligarh Muslim University also operates one primary school, 7 high schools and 2 senior secondary schools for boys and girls.
About the University:
- The university is located at Aligarh and has two operation centres at Murshidabad and Malappuram.
- It has been ranked 8th in the Top 20 research universities in India.
- AMU has more than 28000 students, 5610 non-teaching staff and around 1343 teachers in the campus.
- The University also has 19 residence halls which house students in its 80 hostels.
- It has the conventional UG and PG courses in Humanities, Social Sciences and Sciences as well as the modern, technical, vocational and Inter-Disciplinary courses too.

Admission Procedure:
Admission Procedure at Aligarh Muslim University
The admissions in the various courses taught by the Aligarh Muslim University will be done on the basis of the various Admissions Tests conducted by it. Most of the admissions will be done based on the marks obtained in the AMU Entrance Exam. The forms for the same will be filled online and the admissions will be carried out on the basis of marks obtained in the various tests.
