Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, Coimbatore which is named shortly as the Amrita University is deemed private university that is comprised of a number of schools that operate under it. Also called as a multi-campus university, the Amrita University is ranked one of the best research universities in India. The university has been given accreditation as ‘A’ by the MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development). A number of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes are offered by the universities in many fields namely engineering, business, Ayurveda, medicine, education, nursing, basic sciences etc.
Foundation:
The founder of Amrita University is Mata Amritanandamayi Devi is also the Chancellor of the university. The university was established in the year 2003 when the revolution started with 2 computer training centres that later evolved to colleges and then to Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeethem.

The University also engages itself with regular student exchange programs with the top US and European universities and is also known to be a reputed research university since its establishment. The admissions to the bachelor’s programmes at Amrita University are done through the AEEE, NCTE and the scores obtained in them.

Amrita University has a total of 5 campuses set up with the headquarters based at Ettimadai, Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu which is 22 km away from Coimbatore city. The 4 other campuses named Amritapuri and Kochi campuses are based at Kerala and Bangalore and the Mysore campuses in Karnataka.
