West Bengal (WB) is a located in the eastern part of India by the Bay of Bengal. The state is well known for its rich cultural heritage and history. WB has many renowned engineering institutes in the country such as IIT, NIT to name a few. For West Bengal engineering admission 2021, students can appear for any of the given entrance exams-
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE): WBJEE is a state level engineering entrance exam through which the students can enroll themselves in the engineering courses offered by the government and private colleges in the state.
Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main): JEE Main is a national level engineering entrance exam the scores of which are considered by almost every premier colleges in the country. Students seeking admission into btech programme in West Bengal can also apply for the same through JEE Main. The exam will be conducted twice a year by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Therefore, candidates will get two opportunities to take the test and apply for engineering programs offered by different colleges in the state of West Bengal.

The application form for both the entrance exams i.e. JEE Main and WBJEE will be available online. The online application process for JEE Main will commence at NTA official website. The application process of WBJEE has been now over. Students should fill the online application form and submit the same on or before the deadline specified by the authority. Candidates must fill the application form very carefully as once they submit the form, no further correction facility in the form will be permitted. They will have to fill the form by providing their basic personal and academic details and uploading the scanned copies of the important documents. It is compulsory for the students to pay the necessary application fee for the entrance exam failing which their applications will be rejected by the authority.
Selection procedure for West Bengal Btech admission 2021
Selection through WBJEE
Candidates will be offered admission in btech program on the basis of marks obtained by them in the WBJEE entrance exam. A minimum cutoff will be decided by the authority and those who clear the cutoff marks will be considered for admit. A merit list of the selected candidates will be drawn and such candidates will undergo the counselling process where they need to indicate the branch, course, college they wish to take admission in. Once the counselling is over, candidates will be allotted a seat in a college based on the rank secured by them, seat availability and the choices opted during counselling. Students will then need to report to the college allotted to them to finish the admission related formalities.
Selection through JEE Main
Admission through JEE Main will be done according to the marks secured by the candidates in the JEE Maine exam. On securing the result, candidates can apply for admission in engineering colleges in West Bengal. The authority will prepare a state-wise merit list for such candidates. These students will be invited to attend the counselling for admission in various engineering colleges in WB. They will have to state their preference of course and college during the counselling. Based on the JEE Main rank, the authority will allot a seat to the candidates in their preferred engineering college.
