About the institute

Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS), previously known as Allahabad Agricultural Institute is an autonomous government aided deemed university in Allahabad, India. Founded by Dr. Sam Higginbottom in the year 1910 as Allahabad Agricultural Institute, the SHUATS is considered as the first institute in country to offer a degree in Agricultural Engineering. The university is approved by the UGC. It was setup with the aim to improving the economic status of rural population.
