NATA to be conducted twice from 2019 onwards

Good news for the students who were worried about NATA 2019 dates being clashed with the board exam dates. As per the latest reports, the president of Council of Architecture (COA), Mr. Vijay Garg has clarified that from 2019 onwards, the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) will be conducted twice a year. As quoted by Mr. Garg “we have decided to have two exams, one mid-April and another in the first week of July 2019”.

This indeed has calmed the concerns raised by many state governments who were earlier afraid about the clash of dates between NATA and the board examinations. They have also on many occasions requested for the cancellation of NATA exam 2019 citing the same reason. But with this latest announcement, the council has eased their burden. Students can now apply for NATA exam 2019 either in one session or in both the sessions i.e. April and July as per their convenience.  The best score among the two will be considered by the authority while preparing the merit list.

Another change that the students should know about NATA in 2019 is that the duration to solve the aptitude section has been reduced to 60 minutes and for drawing section it has increased to 120 minutes. Presently, the time given to solve both these sections is 90 minutes each.

Not only this, but the council has also proposed to have a national-level counselling for admission in B.Arch courses. Presently, the candidates have to apply separately for admission in different states. With the introduction of centralized counselling, this hassle faced by the students will get reduced to a larger extent. Now the students from humanities stream can also participate in the NATA exam provided that they qualify the additional exam of the PCM subject conducted by the CBSE.
