The GATE exam will conduct in various 22 disciplines among which a candidate can choose any one. The GATE 2017 syllabus for each paper is provided separately. So, before appearing in GATE Exam 2017 candidates are advice to check the examination pattern so that they will get a bit knowledge about marking criteria, no. of questions, and most important section in GATE exam paper. Here in this article we’ve provided the brief description of GATE exam 2017.
Question paper pattern:
In all papers, there will be a sum of 65 questions, for the total of 100 marks, out of which 10 questions are based on “General aptitude” carrying a maximum of 15 marks and rest of 55 questions are from the core subject of the discipline carrying 85 marks.
In the papers having the codes AG, AE, BT, CH, CE, CS, EE, EC, IN, MN, ME, MT, TF, PI, and XE, the General Aptitude section will carry around 15% of the total marks, the Engineering Mathematics will carry about 15% of the total marks, and the remaining 70% of the marks is dedicated to the subject of the discipline.
The GATE 2017 would comprise questions of 2 different types as discussed below:
Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
The multiple choice questions carrying 1 or 2 marks in each part of the question papers, these questions will have choice of four options for every single question out of which the candidates will have to pick only one correct answer.
Numerical Answer Questions
The numerical answer questions carrying 1 or 2 marks in each part of the question papers, no choices will be shown for these questions. Answer is a real number for these questions that have to be entered by candidate using virtual keypad.
