GATE 2019 TestGraduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a popular national level entrance examination conducted by the seven zonal IITs and an IISc on the rotational basis. GATE 2019 will be organized for offering admission to postgraduate programmes in the field of engineering and technology. Through GATE 2019 scores, candidates can get admission into Master of Technology and Ph.D courses in IISc, IITs, IISERs and other reputed institution. Apart from offering PG admissions, GATE exam score is also considered as one of the major criteria for recruitment to various government and private organizations operating in technical fields.

GATE Eligibility Criteria 2019

Candidates are advised to check the prescribed GATE eligibility criteria 2019 as laid down by the conducting authority. Aspirants, who fulfill all the important eligibility conditions, can apply for GATE 2019.

GATE Test 2019 Application Form

All the interested and eligible candidates have to apply online only. It is expected that GATE registration process for the year 2019 will be commenced in the month of September 2018. The conducting board will give a time period of approx 1 month to complete the application process. For GATE 2019 Online application form fill-in process, candidates have to visit the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) and have to register as a “New User”. Once the registration is done successfully, candidates will get the access to GOAPS. By using the same they can login and access the Application form. Fill all the mandatory fields and upload required documents carefully. Make the payment of applicable fee via Net banking, debit card or e-challan.

Examination Pattern

GATE Exam 2019 will be conducted for M.Tech. /Ph.D. courses in IITs, IISc, and various other institutions. This entrance test is organized for total 23 papers in which applicants are permitted to appear in the only single paper.  The basic details of GATE 2019 exam pattern are given below:

Admit card

The admit card of GATE 2019 will be available at the official portal of GATE i.e. GOAPS after the release of official notification. The authority will not send the admit card via email/post. It is expected that the downloading of the admit card will commence probably in the month of January 2019. Candidates are suggested to take the two or more copies of admit card to avoid discrepancies on the examination day. The GATE admit card 2019 will bear the important information of the exam such as candidate’s name, exam center address, photograph & signature of the candidate and other details.

GATE 2019 Syllabus

The syllabus of GATE exam 2019 will be released on the official website by the conducting authority for all the 23 papers. Understanding of GATE Syllabus is important for better preparation. It should be noted that the syllabus of GATE for each discipline is different. Candidates are advised to check out the syllabus for the related discipline carefully and start their preparation accordingly.

Answer Key

The authority will publish the GATE exam 2019 Answer Key for all the papers on the official website soon after the successful completion of the exam. Candidates can check and download the answer keys by logging in using their Registration details. In case, the candidate found any discrepancy in the official answer key, then he/she can also challenge the answer key by deposing a specified fee.

GATE 2019 Result

The officials will release the GATE 2019 Result most probably in the month of March 2019. Candidates, who appeared in the exam successfully, can check the result online from the official website by entering their GATE Registration Number or Email ID. Along with the result, the authority will also publish the GATE Scorecard of the qualified candidates.


The GATE counselling will be conducted separately by various IITs, NITs, and other institutes. IITs will not organize any common counselling for offering admission to PG courses. A centralized counselling (CCMT) will be held by NITs annually for admission to M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan courses. Many other participating institutes and universities will conduct their own counselling process. The counselling will be strictly based on GATE 2019 scores.

Cut off

GATE exam 2019 cut off will determine the candidate’s eligibility for PG admission to IITs and IISc. In other words, cut off is the minimum score which candidate has to achieve in order to get a seat. The GATE cut off will varies institute wise, streamwise and the category -wise.
