Eligibility criteria

For Indian nationals (General Category)

Admission to Indian students will be obtainable through two modes i.e. Direct/ Merit Mode or Entrance Test Mode. Required percentage of marks for both modes is provided below:

  • Direct/Merit Mode– Aspirants should have obtained at least 60% aggregate in B.A. Economics (Hons)
  • Entrance Test Mode– Candidates should have secured minimum 60% or I division or equivalent CGPA in any UG/PG degree in any subject.

A foreign candidate may be given the option to select either take a Departmental exam or submit their GRE marks along with two recommendation letters from their 2 academic referees.

Interested and eligible candidates will be needed to fill the application form through visiting the official website of the Department i.e. http://econdse.org. During the registration process, candidates need to enter required personal details, academic details, correspondence details, experience if any, uploading of scanned photograph and signatures etc. After providing all these required details, candidates can proceed for the application fee payment. On successful registration, candidates will get their Application Number and Password. By using these login details, candidates can download the application form.

Candidates should have sound knowledge of macroeconomic theory, microeconomic theory, mathematical techniques used by economists, and statistics, probability, and elementary econometrics. You would be provided four options out of which you need to select one correct answer. The exam will be conducted in offline mode. Candidates need to put their answers using Black/ Blue ball point pen.

Department of Economics, Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University will prepare a separate merit list for both reserved category and open category candidates. Selection Process

Selection will be done on the basis of merit list which is calculated through candidate’s marks obtained in Undergraduate degree and performance in written examination. As per last year guidelines of Delhi University, 50% of seats were assigned for direct admission of students based on marks scored in B.A. Economics (Hons) and the leftover 50% seats were filled through Entrance Test.
