Delhi University Admission 2019: 8th Cutoff Out

Candidates seeking admission into the Bachelor (UG) and Masters (PG) courses can apply for DU admission 2019. Delhi University is one of the most prominent universities located in Delhi which offers various UG and PG courses in different disciplines of Arts/Humanities/Music and Fine Arts, Commerce, Mathematical Sciences and Sciences. The university provides admission to the eligible candidates on the basis of entrance exam. Candidates can take direct admission on the basis of the marks attained by the candidates in the qualifying exam as well. The university releases the merit list in this regard.

DU Admission Eligibility Criteria 2019

To be eligible for DU in the UG and PG courses, candidates need to have a relevant educational qualification in the same subjects which he wants to pursue at the higher educational level. The age criteria have not been set by the University for the UG and PG admission. Candidates of any age group can take admission in the university to pursue a Bachelors or Masters programme.

The eligibility criteria for some of the popular courses are as follows:

For Undergraduate Courses

For B.Com (Hons)

  • The candidate must have passed 10+2 with at least 45% aggregate marks.
  • It is compulsory that the candidate must have studied Mathematics/ Business Mathematics at the 10+2 level.

For B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics, Statistics

  • The candidate must have passed 10+2 with 50% marks in mathematics and 45% aggregate marks.

For B.Sc. (Hons) in Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Instrumentation, Polymer Science

  • The aspirant must have passed 10+2 with PCM subject group
  • The candidate should have at least 55% marks in PCM and 50% marks in one compulsory language.

For B.Sc in Physical Science/ Applied Physical Science

  • The applicant must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Computer Science subjects.
  • The candidate should have 45% marks in the subject mentioned above and passing marking in English language.

For B.A (Hons) in Arabic, Hindi, Persian, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Bengali

  • The candidate must have passed 10+2 with 55% marks in relevant subject and at least 45% aggregate marks

For B.A (Hons) rest of the subjects

  • The applicant should have passed 10+2 with 45% marks.
  • The cutoff of DU Admission 2019 will be decided on the basis of marks in one language and three best academic/ elective subjects.

For B.Sc Life Science/ Applied Life Science

  • The applicant must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Bio-technology subjects.
  • The candidate should have 45% marks in the subject mentioned above and passing marking in English language

Note: The candidate aspiring for DU Admission 2019 must have passed both theory and practical exams separately except for the candidates for ICSE board.

For Post Graduation Courses

The eligibility criteria for admission to some of the popular PG courses in Delhi university are as follows:

For LLB

  • The candidates must possess a graduate or Post graduate degree with at least 50% marks (45% for OBC/ CW/ PWD and 40% for SC/ST candidates)

For MCA

  • The applicant must have any bachelor’s degree with at least 60% aggregate marks.
  • The candidate should have studied at least one paper in Mathematical science during graduation.

For M.Com

  • The candidate must have any of the B.Com, B.Com (Hons), B.A (Hons) Economics or any other equivalent degree with at least 50% marks (45% for OBC/ CW/ PWD and 40% for SC/ST candidates)

For LLM             

  • The aspirant must possess a 3 years or 5 year LLB degree with at least 50% marks (45% for OBC/ CW/ PWD and 40% for SC/ST candidates)

For M.Ed

  • The applicant must possess any of the B.Ed, B.A.B.Ed, and B.Sc.B.Ed, B.El.Ed or D.El.Ed degree along with any bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks.

Delhi University Application Form 2019

Candidates willing to take admission in Delhi University will be required to fill and submit the application form through the online mode only. The application form submission process will begin for UG programme from 30th May 2019. Moreover, the applicants will have to upload the scanned images of passport size photo, signature, self-attested ID proof, self-attested copy of caste certificate and self-attested copy of secondary school certificate in the format as asked. Having paid the application fee, candidates can submit the application form. For the future reference, candidates need to take the printout of the application form.

Important instruction to be remembered while filling DU Admission Application Form 2019

  1. The candidates have to enter the bank details for fee refund in case the admission got cancelled.
  2. The candidate should enter only the authentic academic and personal details in the DU admission 2019 application form as the document will be verified during the later stages of the admission process.
  3. The aspirant can select any number of program/ courses based on his/her eligibility.
  4. The size of a photograph to be uploaded in the application form should be 2 inch X 2 inch (5mm X 5mm)
  5. The candidate looking to claim reservation through Sports quota or Extra Curricular Activities Quota needs to upload the Self-attested copies of Sports/ECA certificates.

Entrance Exam Pattern

The DU will conduct Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) in order to shortlist the candidate for some of the UG and PG course. The exam pattern for DU Admission 2019 generally depends upon the course for which the candidate is looking to apply. However, there is some general information common for all the courses as given below:

Mode of Exam: Offline (OMR Sheet Based Exam)

Duration of Exam: 2 Hours

Type of Questions: Objective type multiple choice questions will be asked.

Number of Questions: 100 (For UG courses)

Marking Pattern: 4 Marks will be awarded for a correct answer

Negative Marking: 1 Mark will be deducted for an incorrect answer.

DU Syllabus for Entrance Exam

The syllabus for Delhi University Entrance exam will depend upon the course for which the candidate is looking to apply. For PG courses, the candidates should follow graduation level syllabus of the particular subject. While for the Bachelor’s degree courses the applicant should follow the syllabus of 10+2 level of the relevant subjects.

The sections to be studied for various courses are as follows:

Bachelor in Management Studies (BMS)/ BA (Hons) Business Economics/ BBA (FIA): General English, Quantitative Ability, Business and General Awareness, Reasoning and Analytical Ability

B.Tech (Information Technology and Mathematical Innovation): Mathematics, Reasoning and Analytical abilities

Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.): Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science

BA (Honours) in Multimedia and Mass Communication: Media Awareness, General Awareness, Current Affairs, Analytical skills, English Comprehension and Grammar.

Admit Card

The admit card for the entrance exam will be available in the online mode within a week after the last date of application form submission. The candidates need to login to their accounts and download the admit card for the exam. Please note that the print quality of the admit card should be good enough for verification. The admit card will carry the information related to the exam center and reporting time. No candidate will be allowed to appear for the exam without a valid admit card.

DU Admission Cutoff 

After the result declaration of entrance exam and qualifying exam, the university will release the cutoffs for the DU Admission. A separate cutoff list will be released for different categories.  The candidate who has filled the online application form and satisfies the eligibility criteria and cut off for a particular course in a particular college will be required to report for the admission as the prescribed schedule.
