About Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology
Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), commonly known as National Institute of Technology is one of the seven regional engineering colleges. Established in the year 1961 as a joint enterprise of the state govt of Gujarat and the govt of India, SVNIT is ranked as the second best NIT. In the year 2003, the institution has been awarded as Deemed to be University. SVNIT is the Anchor Institute for the Auto and Engineering zone and will be training the workforce. It has been recognized as an Institute of National Importance and approved by the MHRD and UGC.
Campus
The campus of SVNIT is sited at Ichchhanath in Surat at a distance of 10 km from the Surat Railway Station. The campus sprawls over 248 acres of lush green land on the Surat near Dumas Highway. The main entrance of campus is situated on the northern end, facing Surat-Dumas Road.
Courses
The SVNIT offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Phd courses in the fields of Engineering and Technology, Humanities and Management and Science. All courses are accredited by the NBA and approved by the AICTE.
Facilities at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology
The campus has a big central library and a central computer centre. The campus offers many basic amenities like bank & two ATM, Medical care centre for the children of the staff and faculty, cafeteria, guest house, post office, dispensary, security force, separate hostels for boys and girls, entrepreneurship development cell, various staff quarters, playground, students’ store, and physical education centre.
Placement
Being a National Institute of Technology, SVNIT has a good placement record. The campus has separate Training and Placement cell headed by experienced and skilled staff which works to offer the job opportunities for the students.
