CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2024: All those aspirants who are willing to apply for CLAT they must read the CLAT eligibility criteria 2024 provided in the post. The eligibility criteria of this law exam give a general idea of the minimum age, educational qualification and other requirements for applying and appearing in the CLAT exam. Candidates, who are capable to meet the prerequisites for Common Law admission test, they can only apply for the test.

The exam is going to be held on 8th May 2024 for the candidates who are interested in undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes Offered by the 18 law universities of the country. All possible details related to CLAT eligibility criteria are provided below. Ensure whether you fulfill the required criteria and then only move to further processes. Please keep in mind that your CLAT application form will not be approved by the concerned authority if you don’t meet the overall eligibility criteria for this exam.

CLAT Eligibility 2024

Nationality:

  • Indian nationals can apply.
  • NRIs candidates are also eligible to apply for the exam. They may directly contact to the participating universities for the admission provision regarding foreign national candidate.

Eligibility for UG Programme

CLAT Age limit

  • The age of candidates belonging to Unreserved/NRIs/NRI Sponsored category should be below 20 years as on 1st July 2024.
  • The age of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) category should be below 22 years as on 1st July 2024.

However, according to the Hon’ble Supreme Court, candidates who are above the age of 20 years in case of Unreserved/NRI/NRI Sponsored category and 22 years in case of SC/ST/OBC/SAP category as on 1st July 2024 are also permitted to apply for Undergraduate programmes in CLAT.

Educational Qualification

  • For Unreserved /OBC /Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories: Class 12th or equivalent examination from 10+2 education system from a recognized board with no less than 45% marks.
  • For SC/ST categories: Class 12th with at least 40%

If a candidate is appearing in the qualifying exam in March/April 2024 are also permitted to apply. However, candidates who are falling under this category, they will have to submit the proof of passing the qualifying exam at the time of admission.

CLAT Eligibility for PG Programme

  • Education Qualification for Unreserved / OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories: Candidates should have passed LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons.)/ any other equivalent exam with 55% marks.
  • Educational Qualification for SC/ST: Candidates should have passed LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons.)/ any other equivalent exam with 50% marks.
  • Candidates, who are appearing in the final semester/final year examination of the qualifying examination but they will pass the same on the date of their admission, can apply.
  • There is no upper age limit specified for appearing in the CLAT exam for PG programme.
