CEED 2023: Application Form (From 5 Oct), Eligibility Criteria, Exam Date

CEED 2023 will be conducted with the objective of selecting candidates for admissions into M.Des and Ph.D programmes in Design at IISc Bangalore and different IITs. However, the CEED qualified candidates might have to appear for further tests or interviews conducted by the admitting institutes for the final selection.

The eligible candidates can apply for CEED 2023 by submitting their application form in online mode. The form will be made available from 5 October 2022 and the exam will be conducted in January 2023. This article provides the candidates important details related to CEED 2023 such as exam pattern, syllabus, application form, etc.

The tentative schedule for CEED 2023 is given below:

CEED Eligibility Criteria 2023

The following eligibility criteria need to be fulfilled by the aspiring CEED 2023 candidates:

  • The applicants should have passed a diploma/ degree/ post-graduate degree programme of 4 years or 3+2 years after class 12th. The candidates appearing for the final examination of such program before July 2020 can also apply.
  • Those who have passed the GD Arts diploma programme (10+5 level) before July 2019 are also considered eligible.

Application Form for CEED 2023

CEED application form 2023 can be obtained only in online mode through the official CEED website. The candidates will have to provide their basic personal details, educational details and upload scanned copies of photograph, signature, and other important certificates in the application form. The duly filled application form can be submitted along with the required application fee before the last date. Those who fail to submit the form within time may also submit the form with additional late fees of Rs 500/- + GST, but there is a time limit to that also. The application fee payment can be done via credit card, debit card or net banking and once paid it is non-refundable and non-transferable.

CEED 2023 Exam Pattern

The CEED exam will consist of two parts, Part A and Part B. The duration of Part A exam will be 1 hour and of Part B will be 2 hours (without any break). The part A will be a computer-based test and will consist of multiple choice questions, multiple select questions and numerical answer questions. The questions for Part B will be displayed on the computer screen and the answers will have to be written into the answer book provided by the invigilator. Read more about the exam pattern

CEED Syllabus 2023

The following syllabus is prescribed for the CEED 2023 exam:

Part A:

  • Visualization and spatial ability: Pictorial questions to test the understanding of transformation of 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.
  • Environmental and social awareness: Environmental factors such as population, pollution, weather, etc., and their implications on infrastructure design, History of art, sculpture, etc
  • Analytical and logical reasoning: Ability to analyze given information logically and select the most appropriate solutions, etc
  • Language and creativity: Ability to understand passages in commonly used English language, Ability to think creatively and out of the box, etc
  • Design thinking and problem solving: Ability to understand the context and select the most appropriate solution for a given design problem.
  • Observation and design sensitivity: Ability to detect concealed properties in day-to-day life and think critically about them, etc

Part B:

  • Drawing: Ability to draw in proportion with good line quality, composition, proportion, perspective, and shading.
  • Creativity: Ability to think out of the box and come up with unique as well as diverse solutions.
  • Communication skills: Ability to communicate concepts and ideas clearly with the help of text and visuals.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills: Ability to understand the user and the context, knowledge of properties of materials, plots and stories, etc

Basic Preparation Hacks

CEED 2023 will be an aptitude and designing test and hence there is no specific text book or guide recommended for its preparation. The candidates may however practice and improve their drawing, rendering and visualization skills. Give proper time to hone your drawing skills. You can also make a time table for this purpose so that you can practice maximum for designing and sketching. Question papers of the previous years are also available on the CEED website. Try to solve maximum questions from these previous year papers to get a better understanding of the exam pattern.

CEED 2023 Admit Card

The CEED admit card 2023 will be available for download on the official website of CEED. The candidates should take a clear and colored printout of the admit card. The admit card along with a valid identity proof must be carried to the exam center on the day of examination. Candidates must also bring their own pencils, sketch pens, poster colors and other drawing materials (except drawing sheets) for the examination.

CEED Result 2023

The result of CEED 2023 exam will declare at official website in March 2023. The candidates will also be able to download their score card from the website by providing the required credentials. The score card will be valid for a period of one year from the date of declaration of the result. No hard copy of the CEED score card will be sent to the qualified candidates.
