Founded in 1974, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV) is a well known agriculture University based in West Bengal, India. The University was established with major objectives to offer higher quality education in academic and technical fields of Horticulture, Agriculture, and Agri-Engineering both at PG and UG levels. The University was recognized by AICTE and ICAR. BCKV has a huge campus with top class faculties, extension and research facilities and good administration.

Library: The University has a vast central Library at the main campus. To assist the teaching, research and extension activities of an Agriculture university, the library plays an important role, with over 74,960 no of educational books.

Hostel: The BCKV has well organized hostels for both Post Graduate and Research Students. Accommodation in the hostel is necessary for all students registered for Post Graduate and Ph.D. courses.

Sports services: Apart from educational services, the University also offers various sports facilities for students.

Laboratories: BCKV has well maintained, equipped and ventilated labs in the main campus.

Courses and eligibility Criteria offered by Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering) – three years

Applicants should have cleared two years Master degree examination in Agriculture or Horticulture or Agril- Engineering from an appropriately recognized University, following 4-year Bachelor Degree course with related disciplines, securing an Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) minimum of  6.50/10.00 in 10 point scale, 3.25/5.00 in 5 -point scale, 2.60/4.00 in 4 -point scale for General & OBC candidates, but for Candidates from SC/ST categories, the required OGPA must be at least 5.50/10.00, 2.75/5.00, or 2.20/4.00. In other cases, where grade-systems are not given and only marks are given, the applicant should have obtained minimum of 60% marks for General and OBC Category, while for SC/ST category, the minimum percentage of marks is 50%.

  • Master of Science- two years (3 courses)

Candidates should have cleared the four -year Bachelor Degree examination in Agriculture or Horticulture or Agricultural Engineering attaining an Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) minimum of 6.60/10.00 in 10 point scale, 3.25/5.00 in 5 -point scale, 2.60/4.00 in 4 -point scale for General & OBC candidates, but for Candidates from PH/SC/ST categories, the required OGPA must be at least 5.60/10.00, 2.75/5.00, or 2.20/4.00. Applicants should have cleared Higher Secondary examination with Physics, Chemistry, English, and Biology obtaining minimum of 50% marks (for General, OBC and Sports categories) and 40% marks (for candidates belonging to SC, ST and PH categories) in aggregate.
