BHU MCA 2022: Application Form, Syllabus, Eligibility Criteria

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is the organizing body that will be conducting the BHU MCA 2022 through the PET entrance exam for admission in three-years of MCA course provided by it. Candidates need to apply for the entrance exam in order to be eligible for the admission in MCA program offered by the BHU. It is compulsory for the applicants to qualify for the exam to enroll in the stated course.

The authority will announce a merit list illustrating the names of the candidates qualified in the exam and eligible for admission. Eligibility Criteria for BHU MCA

Candidates should note that mere appearance in the entrance exam or securing pass marks in the exam does not guarantee the admission unless they fulfill the eligibility criteria set by the authority. The eligibility criteria for BHU MCA program is as follow-

Qualifying Examination: Candidates should have done graduation (10+2+3 pattern) in any discipline with mathematics as a compulsory subject either at 10+2 level or at bachelor’s level.

Percentage required: Candidates must have scored at least 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.

Appearing candidates: Those appearing in the final year of the qualifying examination can also apply and appear in the exam. However, such candidates will be required to produce the original mark sheet of the qualifying examination at the time of counselling in order to get admission.

Application Form

BHU has created its Entrance Test Portal i.e. www.bhuonline.in. Candidates can apply online for the PET exam. The application form will only be available via online mode and no offline forms will be sold by the authority. Therefore, candidates need to register themselves for the exam through the test portal only. For registration, they will be required to provide the basic details such as- Email ID, Password, Name, DOB, Father’s name, Mother’s name, and Address. After successful registration, candidates can proceed to fill the online application form for PET.

For filling the form, Aadhar number is compulsory and the candidates should keep the scanned photograph and signature in JPEG format handy. Candidates need to enter their educational details very carefully as they won’t be given an opportunity to edit/change the details in the application form once it is submitted. After completing the application form, applicants must pay the required application fee for the exam. Without the application fee, the application received will be rejected by the authority.

Application Fee

Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PC categories need to pay Rs. 250/- as the application fee for the exam. For other candidates, the fee to be paid is Rs. 500/-.

Mode of Payment: The application fee can be paid through any one of the methods- Net banking, Credit card, Debit card and HDFC bank Challan.

BHU Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for admission in MCA program offered by the BHU is as follows-

  • Exam Mode: Offline (Pen and Paper based)
  • Exam Duration: 2 Hours
  • Type of Questions: Objective type (MCQs)
  • Total Number of Questions: 120 questions
  • Marking scheme: 3 marks will be awarded for marking the correct answer
  • Negative marking: 1 mark will be deducted for marking the incorrect answer

Syllabus

Here is the syllabus for the BHU MCA exam-

Mathematical Aptitude Test Areas (+2 Level): Matrices and Determinants, Basics of Calculus, Logarithms, Inequalities,  Progressions, Binomial Expansion, Permutation and Combination, Complex Arithmetic, Equations (up to degree 2), Function and Relation, 2-D Coordinate Geometry, Basic Concepts of Probability.

Analytical and Logical Reasoning: Graphical/Data interpretation, Blood relations, Puzzles, Direction sense, Sitting arrangement, Number series, Syllogism, Assertion and statement, Analogy and Classification, Odd-one out etc.

Preparation Tips

Here are some of the preparation tips for the candidates through which they can score good marks and crack the exam effectively-

  1. Prepare for the exam strictly according to the syllabus.
  2. Always start your preparation with the basic concepts first.
  3. You can also solve sample papers for additional practice.
  4. Keep yourself relaxed by doing yoga or meditation.
  5. Avoid wasting time on social media and mobile phones.
  6. Make short notes for quick revision. Don’t forget to revise the topics studied.
  7. Keep a separate notebook for writing mathematical formulas and shortcuts.

Admit Card

The admit card for the PET exam can be downloaded from the test portal of the BHU. It will be available for downloading from a week prior to the commencement of the exam. Applicants will also get an intimation about the admit card status on their registered mobile phone and email ID. They should take the printout of the hall ticket and keep it safe till the admission is done. Applicants must bring the admit card to the exam center or else they won’t be allowed to appear in the exam.

Result and Counselling

The result of the BHU MCA 2022 entrance exam will be published on the test portal of the Banaras Hindu University. Candidates will be notified about the result on their email ID and mobile number. Only those candidates can proceed for admission who qualifies the exam as per the merit list. The merit list will be determined by the marks scored by the candidates in the PET exam.

Those who are shortlisted in the merit list will be invited to attend the counselling process. The counselling will be conducted in online mode and the candidates will be allotted a seat in BHU based on their merit rank. After which, the selected candidates will be given a provisional admission letter which they need to submit along with the admission fee to the concerned authority.
