ASRB NET Eligibility Criteria: Educational and Age Requirements, No. of Attempts

ASRB NET Eligibility Criteria: The online application process for ASRB NET is possible to be commenced in fourth week of March 2022. The Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) is going to conduct a combined ARS (Prelims) and NET Exam probably in the month of May 2022. The exam will be held in online mode only at 23 Centres across the country. Candidates who want to take the position of Scientist/Lecturer/Assistant Professor jobs in Agriculture field must submit their ASRB NET application as per the prescribed schedule. Before filling the online application form, candidates need to check the eligibility criteria of ASRB NET thoroughly. If the candidate fails to fulfill any of the eligibility condition as prescribed in the information brochure they will be considered disqualified. ASRB NET Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

The applicants should be an Indian national or any of the following:

  • Citizen of Bhutan, or
  • Citizen of Nepal, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over India before January 1, 1962 with the purpose of permanent settling in India, or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Burma, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zaire, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the motive of permanently settling in India.

Number of attempts

For ARS

The eligible candidates can appear to ARS Examination for maximum of 6 times (in case of OBC category and Divyang candidates the number of attempt will be limited to 9). However, this condition is not applicable for SC and ST category. However, the number of attempts for OBC category will be restricted to 9.

For NET 2019

There is no such restriction for appearing in National Eligibility Test (NET).

Educational Qualifications for ARS:

  • An applicant must possess a Master’s Degree or equivalent in the concerned discipline and specialization completed on or before the given date.
  • The candidates, who hold Master’s degree from a foreign University, need to attach a certificate of equivalence and recognition of that degree issued by the Government of India / University Grants Commission/ any other concerned Government of India / Department or Agency.
  • Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination or waiting for their result can also apply for ARS Examination. However, such candidates are needed to produce the self-attested copies of the documents/certificates in support of their candidature by the given date, failing which their interview call letter shall be suspended.

Age criteria

The minimum age limit for the candidate is 21 years and the maximum age limit is 32 years as on January 1, 2020.

Relaxation in Upper age

The upper age limit will also be relaxed for the following categories

Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy layer) A max of 3 years
SC or ST A max of 5 years
Divyang candidates A max of 10 years
Ph.D. degree holder (for ARS) A max of 3 years
Ph.D. degree holder in case SC/ST/OBC/ Divyang (for ARS) A max of 3 years
Applicants who belongs to Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989 5 years
Other bonafide displaced persons/ Defence Services Personnel/ repatriates of Indian origin / Border Security Force Personnel etc As per the current instructions of the Govt of India on the subject

Educational qualification for NET

Aspirant should have done a Master’s degree or equivalent in the respective stream and specialization completed on or before the given date from any Indian University incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institute recognized by an Act of Parliament or stated to be deemed University by University Grants Commission Act, 1956

Or

Applicants should have done the said qualification from a foreign University recognized as equivalent by the Government of India (GoI).

Age limit for NET

  • The minimum age limit for the candidate is 21 years as on January 1, 2020.
  • There will be no upper age limit criteria.
