AMU Distance Education 2021

The Centre for Distance Education, Aligarh Muslim University annually invites applicants for admission in different SSSC, undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) and PG diploma courses provided by it. Interested candidates can apply for AMU distance education 2021 by filling the application form. Candidates need to make sure that they fir the eligibility requirements laid down by the University to enroll in the course of their choice. Courses offered under AMU Distance Education 2021

Here’s the list of programmes provided by the AMU under distance education scheme-

• Senior Secondary School certificate programme: For admission in class 11^th (arts and commerce stream)
• Undergraduate (UG) programmes: Bachelor’s of Arts (B.A), Bachelor’s of commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of library and information science (B.LIS) etc.
• Postgraduate (PG) programmes:A, M.Com, etc.
• Postgraduate diploma programme: PG diploma in – Portfolio management, Journalism and mass communication, Guidance and counselling, Language for advertisement, media and marketing, personnel management, office management, sales and retails, computer programming.

AMU distance education-Eligibility criteria

Candidates must meet the eligibility conditions set by the authority in order to get admission in the course of their choice. The eligibility criteria for AMU distance education 2021 admission are given below-

Educational qualification

• SSSC (class XI: arts and commerce): Students should have completed the secondary school certificate/high school certificate of AMU or its equivalent exam.
• B.Com: Candidates should have passed SSSC/class 12^th exam in any stream from AMU or other recognized board.
• M.Com: Candidates should have completed B.Com degree with minimum 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized University.
• B.Sc (computer science): Candidates should have passed class 12^th examination with science stream from a recognized board.
• B.LIS: Candidates should have done B.A/B.Sc/B.Com with minimum 50% aggregate marks from any institution recognized by AMU OR Candidates should have done B.A/B.Com/B.Sc with minimum 45% aggregate marks and holding library experience of 5 years in a recognized library OR They should have done B.Sc/B.A/B.Com with at least 45% marks and holding a master’s degree in any discipline in second division from a university recognized by the AMU.
• PG Diploma in Journalism and mass communication: Candidates should possess a valid bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
• PG Diploma in Portfolio management: Candidates should have done graduation in any discipline from a recognized university.
• PG Diploma in Language for advertisement, marketing and media: A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university is required.
• PG diploma in Guidance and counselling: Candidates should have completed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any AMU recognized institution. Preference will be given to the candidates who have studied psychology, educational psychology, education, M.Ed etc.
• Diploma in communicative skills in English: Certificate in communicative English or B.A part-I from AMU or other recognized institute.

Note: Candidates cannot pursue two degree courses simultaneously. They, however, can pursue a degree and diploma course at the same time through a combination of distance and regular mode from the same or different university.

How to apply/Application form?

Candidates can obtain the application form for AMU distance education 2021 admission from the Centre of Distance Education (CDE), AMU or from the official website of CDE. They need to download the application form and fill the particulars very carefully. The details in the application form should be entered correctly and match the official records. Candidates need to attach a DD with the application form along with the relevant documents and send it to the authorities on or before the due date specified by the University. Incomplete applications or those received without the demand draft will summarily be rejected.  Candidates should avoid submitting multiple application forms.

Application form will be rejected if-

• The candidates do not meet the eligibility criteria
• The qualifying exam is not recognized by the AMU
• The application is incomplete
• The application form is not signed by the candidates
• The clearance from the AMU proctor is not given
• The information given by the candidate is found to be incorrect or misleading.

Application fee

Candidates are required to pay Rs. 300/- towards the application fee. The fee can be paid by purchasing the form in cash or through a demand draft to be drawn in favour of “Finance officer, AMU” payable at Aligarh along with a self-addressed A4 size envelope affixing postal stamp of Rs. 60/- to the following address-

Documents to be submitted with the application form

Given below are the documents that the candidates need to attach with the application form. All the copies of the documents should be self-attested by the candidates.

1. Aadhar card
2. Graduation marksheet
3. Class 10^th marksheet and passing certificate
4. Class 12^th marksheet and passing certificate (if applicable).

Selection criteria

Candidates will be selected on the basis of the marks secured in the qualifying examination. The list of the shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the notice board at the office of CDE, AMU. Admission in a course will be subjected to the minimum qualification possessed by the candidates.
