AMU 2020: Aligarh Muslim University

The AMU Admission 2020 process has begun from 21st Jan 2020 with the release of its application form. Enrolment will be granted to the selected candidates into different courses such as BE, B.Tech, BA.LLB, MA, M.Tech, MBA, B.Com, M.Com, etc. Candidates who are interested and meet the eligibility requirements can apply in online mode for the course of their choice. Admission in different courses will be offered on the basis of departmental test or admission test or merit in qualifying exam.

AMU Admission 2020 Important Highlights

AMU 2020 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for AMU Admission is given below:

  • Mode of exam: OMR based
  • Medium of test: English (except for language-specific course)
  • Duration of test: 2 hours/ 3 hours (depending on course)
  • Type of question: Objective type
  • Marking scheme: 1 mark for each right answer
  • Negative marking: 25% marks will be deducted for each incorrect response

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for certain courses offered by AMU are given below. The candidates can get the complete details from the official website.

For undergraduate courses:

  • Tech: The candidates who clear their class 12th or equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate of English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Diploma in Engineering from the university with 50% marks in minimum are eligible.
  • BFA: The candidates should have cleared their class 12th or equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Arch: The candidates with pass in class 12th or equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate of English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics can apply.

For postgraduate courses:

  • MA (Linguistics/ Philosophy/ Urdu/ Hindi): Those with a pass in BA/ B.Sc/ B.Com/ B.Th. or equivalent degree with at least 50% marks in aggregate are eligible.
  • Com: B.Com (Hons.) with not less than 55% marks in aggregate is required in order to be eligible.
  • Tech: Applicants with B.Tech or its equivalent examination in the relevant branch of study with not less than 60% marks in aggregate or its equivalent can apply.

For diploma courses:

  • Diploma in Costume Design and Garment Technology: Senior Secondary School Certificate of the university or equivalent with II Division and English as one of the subjects at SSC or SSSC level is necessary.
  • Advance Diploma in Interior Decoration: The candidates with bachelor’s degree in any discipline from the University or Diploma in Engineering/ Secretarial Practice/ Costume Design and Garment Technology or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate can apply.
  • Diploma in Engineering: Applicants who have passed their class 12th or equivalent exam with not less than 45% marks in aggregate of English, Mathematics and Science. Individual pass in these subjects is also required.

For PG diploma courses:

  • PG Diploma in Mass Communication (Urdu): The candidates should hold BA/ B.Sc/ B.Com/ B.Th. degree with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Knowledge of Urdu language is necessary.
  • PG Diploma in Business Finance (PGDBF): Bachelor’s degree in Arts/ Science/ Social Sciences/ Commerce or Diploma in Engineering from AMU with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Advanced PG Diploma in Nanotechnology: A pass in B.Tech/ M.Sc (Physics/ Chemistry/ Life Sciences) with a minimum of 60% marks is required.

AMU Entrance Exam Application Form 2020

The candidates can apply online for AMU Admission 2020. Using their basic details such as name, username, password and a valid email, the candidates can register for admissions. After successful registration, the candidates can proceed for application filling.

  • In the application form, the candidates will have to provide their personal details like date of birth, father’s name, gender, mobile number, address, etc.
  • Educational details such as qualifying exam year of passing, roll number, university/ board name and percentage/ CGPA obtained will also be provided.
  • Scanned copies of photograph, signature, thumb impression and other important documents need to be uploaded in the form.
  • The duly-filled application form can then be submitted along with the prescribed application fee.
  • Candidates must carefully select the appropriate course and pay the fee for the specified course.
  • No corrections are allowed after submission of online form and therefore the form must be filled with extreme care.
  • A hard copy of the electronically submitted application form and fee payment receipt must be kept safe by the candidates.

  • Payment of application fee can be done in online mode net banking/ debit card/ credit card.
  • The application fee once paid is non-refundable or non-transferrable.

Admit Card

  • The admit card for appearing in the entrance test will be released online on the university website.
  • A printout of the admit card must be taken to be carried to the exam center on day of exam.
  • Any kind of discrepancy in the admit card must be brought to the notice of the application form handling office immediately.
  • Candidates without a valid admit card will not be allowed to enter the examination hall.
  • Admit card must be preserved until the complete process of admission is over.

Result

  • The entrance exam results will be announced around one month after the exam date in online mode.
  • Candidates will be able to check their result from the university official website using their roll number.
  • A merit list of the candidates who qualify the exam will be drawn and published on the website.
  • Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks scored by the candidates in the entrance test.
  • Courses for which no test is conducted, merit list will be drawn on the basis of performance in the qualifying exam.

Counseling Process

  • On the basis of merit list, counseling will be conducted by the relevant authorities.
  • Candidates will be allowed to provide choice for course specialization at the time of counseling and their documents will also be verified.
  • Details of the counseling process will be made available on the website of university and notice boards of the concerned department.
  • The candidates must report for counseling along with important documents as per the specified schedule.
  • The applicants will be allotted a seat based on their ranking and choice made by them in the counseling.
